Maybe, if the world balances, after writing their names on the rock, they jumped.

Dennis, Have you ever been in the NC Smokies where they filmed the Last of the Mohicans.

I’ve been to Chimney Rock (Last of the Mohicans). This was a privately owned park until the state purchased it. Grandfather Mountain as also transitioned from private ownership to state ownership.

My wife and I might be in your neck of the woods in September. We are working on some vacation plans and they might include Spruce Pine and Banner Elk. We have stayed at the Pine Bridge Inn more times than I care to count and also love Banner Elk. I can't get enough of that real cider that a person can only find on the back roads.

I run coal trains through Spruce Pine every day. Great little town.

We spent a few vacations there when I was young. My dad was a rockhound, and I was the packmule. He hunted rocks in the surrounding mountains, I got the honor of packing them back to his car. We got a small cabin in the place, very rustic. It was full of other guys hunting rocks. After the first year, our old chevy was packed to the gills with fossils from our region. We traded them to others in the evenings, after rock hunting and hauling all day. We often discussed the idea that our car wasn't heavier or lighter on the return trip. Loaded to the gills both ways.
