Lucky Walmart find on 22 today.

I'm no ammo snob but I started using up one of those boxes of Fed Auto Match today and had a lot of squibs. Hope they aren't all like that.

I'm on my 3rd box now and have not had one squib or dud. They comprised 3 different mfg codes.

In contrast, after the last shortage, the first to be available locally were Winchester bulk and every single box of them had a few squibs and even some empty cases with no bullet.

Of course, I found that ALL of the Remington **** was **** 20 years ago and have not and will not ever buy that again.

I just bought 5 boxes of Eley Tenex Ulitimate EPS for $50.00.

I've shot a lot of the Fed AutoMatch in my Victory and I've never had a squib or a dud. It's really accurate for me and hits where I'm pointing.

Have been using AutoMatch for years. Has worked well for me in handguns and a 10/22.

All the new Automatch that I and friends have bought here in AZ has a low powered round every 20 or 30 shots.
I remembered Automatch from years ago as consistent for a bulk ammo, so I bought 9 or 10 bricks (o.k. they are Mini bricks) of this new stuff.

Was shooting some out of my S&W 63 last week and barely heard through the earmuffs what sounded like a long weak fart.
I swung open the cylinder expecting to see a bullet stuck in the forcing cone, nothing there. Ejected the cases out of the cylinder and one still had the bullet in the case.

I hate to have all that AM and not use it. I could try to sell the Automatch but would like to know I could replace it (over 3,000 rounds) at a similar price, before I unload it.

I'll repeat an offer I made on another thread, any of you guys that like Automatch and dislike Remington, I'll trade you all of my Automatch for Remington Goldens, as long as they are fresh like the Automatch, not Goldens stock you've had for a decade. PM me.

For bulk plinking ammo, current Goldens have been way better for me than anything from Winchester or Federal.

I notice that when many say how crappy Remington rimfire ammo is they tell you in the same sentence that they hate it so much they haven't used any Remington in 10 or 20 years.
Try some that was made the last couple years and you'll have a different outlook.
(Then try some of the Automatch with squib loads thrown in).

Nearly every time I walk by the sporting goods counter at Walmart, they have had some Automatch. I just walk on by, and I notice it hasn't been moving off the shelf so quick lately, maybe the word is getting out.

Interesting posts concerning Fed. auto match. Yesterday had my First FTF auto match in Mdl 17. Colt Woodsman works perfectly as does the Ruger Mk II and 10-22. Do not buy any Win. ammo these days. Bought 1 box of Rem. (only one on shelf) couple weeks ago and have not tried yet. Will try it next trip to range.

Despite the many anecdotal reports of misfires from the Remington Golden Bullet bulk pack .22s, I have never experienced any after many years of using them. Maybe my firing pin springs are stronger. I have several blocks of the Federal AutoMatch .22, but have never fired any of it.

Where do you find $3.00/gal. gasoline? It was $5.15/gal. for premium at my closest station. $4.68 at Costco.

Every walmart I've been to around the denver area had had the automatch 325 boxes and a smattering of other .22 in stock when I've stopped in over the last couple months.

Do wish I could say that about any 12g 2 3/4 waterfowl ammo though.

I can remember only 1 misfire of 22 ammo in the past 5 years or so. Believe it or not is was from some expensive Eley Club ammo but just 1.

You are extremely lucky then. Every once in a while I have a misfire Usually just turn it a bit as I rechamber it and then it goes bang.

^^^^ Stopped by the Wal-Mart in Lexington, Va. this morning for some items on way to play golf there. As usual walked through Sporting Goods. Lots of boxes of both brands of 22lr on the shelf. Maybe supply is catching up with demand or inflation is causing folks to bypass ammo in order to pay that extra $15-$20 for a tank of gas. Didn't buy any.

Until about a week ago, the going price in the San Antonio area for regular gas was around $2.95 to $3.00. Over the last week it has jumped about a dime, some places a little more. WalMart gas is usually around a nickel less than anywhere else.

Here in the middle east coast of Fla. gas is selling for $3.33 - $3.45 a gallon.

I just got a beating at cribbage with my wifes daughters new boy friend

My 22a shoots best with Remington Golden Bullets. In fact, the best target I've ever shot with a .22 pistol at 15 yards was with that combination. My High Standard with CCI SV has come close and probably shoots a little better for me overall but the single best target goes to the 22a. The Remington ammo is all relatively recent production.

I bought the 22a because I only shoot standard velocity in the High Standard and it was hard to find in the previous shortage. I didn't really expect much out of it but it shoots right there with the High Standard. Go figure. Cheap gun and cheap ammo shoots right with the fancy stuff. Maybe it I was a super bullseye shooter I could tell the difference.
