Pistol was stolen out of my truck 10 yrs ago. Letter from the Sheriffs office gave me 90 days to come and get it. So I did this morning. Still looks brand new.
But I want to tinker with it. I'm looking for a tight fitting barrel that is threaded. No trigger work needed. I did the Burwell trigger job 10 years ago!
The factory barrel shows a 4.25". Is there a barrel that fits what I'd like to do?
Thank you

Great news on getting it back!

OP wrote "looks brand new". :)

There are definitely longer threaded 9 mm barrels but not sure about .40. Someone else here will though.

OP, you know that we are always interested to hear the back story on the theft and recovery of a firearm. Did the sheriff reveal any details?

You're lucky it wasn't found in Indianapolis, Indiana, in a supposedly gun friendly state.
Once a gun enters the system, it can take years to get it back, and often it takes a lawsuit.

No one knows of anyone that would have a gen 1 M&P threaded barrel??
I just did a M&P 2.0 with the Apex semi fit. That thing opens and closes like a vault.

I have an unused factory S&W M&P 9mm Gen 1 threaded barrel that I will put up for sale on the classifieds here with your ID having first rights to it. No obligation of course. I'll have to find it first, it's somewhere in my pile of parts.

Here she is!
10 years ago I left my truck unlocked at night...it was dark! So the burglary type individual absconded my my baby. Fast forward 10 years. I get a real mailed letter from Houston Sheriffs office saying my pistol was to be picked up or "disposed" of in 90 days. So I got my happy little *** in my truck ( no it wasn't the same truck )
and went on down to their office ( Not were I would want to live ) signed a few forms and I was outta there lickidy split. I did not look at it before I left the place.
So, here's my baby come home!

You are not to blame …. The dirtball who entered YOUR truck to steal YOUR property is the one at fault !!

WORTH REPEATING. Thank you, sir. Always wise to lock your stuff up, for several good reasons, but the OP didn't hold a gun on anyone forcing them to steal his weapon. The low-life in question gets 100% of the honor, IMO.

That looks brand new. How long did you have it before it was stolen? I gotta say the cops story is sketchy. No junkie would keep that laying around that long. It would have been sold or pawned almost immediately. If I am right, it'd be interesting to know the real story.

The only way the LE story makes any sense is if the perp hid the gun "somewhere safe" then got so wasted he forgot about it. A search by LE turns it up at a later date. All I can say to that is, hmmm.

Was hoping someone beat me to it. While I do agree that we live in an imperfect world and should do our best to secure our firearms (which sadly for most of us probably means not leaving them in the car), you didn't break the law. You didn't do anything immoral. Some thief violated your property and took one of your possessions for nefarious ends. They are to blame, not you.
