OK.....I've ran between 1 and 2 bricks through my 15-22. It is currently sporting a Leupold 2-7x VXI rimfire scope. I've ran a handful of different brands of .22 LR through it to see what it likes best.

At yesterday's range session, some Winchester T-22 standard velocity yielded the best results. I managed a 1 3/8" 10 shot group at 50 yds. The group was generally dispersed with no notable "fliers" causing what would have been a tight group to open up. In contrast, Federal bulk ammo from Walmart was in the 3+" group size.

OK.....the question is what kind of groups are you seeing with your 15-22? I was expecting better than this but haven't found it yet. Yes, I can shoot.....my Remington .223 bolt gun will consistently give me 5 shot sub 1" groups at 100 yds.

Your input will be appreciated. :)

Here are my results at 50 yards using attached bi-pod and a cheap 3-9X Rimfire scope:

Only work to gun was breaking in trigger while watching TV a few hours one night.

Best results were with CCI Blazers.

CCI Blazers: Top Left, Bottom Right Targets
CCI Mini Nags: Bottom Left Target
Federal Bulk: Center, Top Right Targets

I realize the M&P 15-22 isn't a target rifle....never bought it for that reason. I just thought that for the money, it would at least be comparable in accuracy to other off the shelf 22 rimfire rifles, such as my 30+ year old Ruger 10/22 (which has had no accuracy mods performed on it). So far....it hasn't gotten close. :(

n3cal.....any chance you could run a ruler on a couple of those and give me an idea of the group size? Or at least tell me how big the target bull is?

For those of you who have attended an Appleseed shoot, you are aware of the fact that the AQT is shot at 25 yards. The scaled 400 yard targets get pretty small (see stage #4 below). If I remember correctly, Appleseed is all about a 4MOA marksman. When you have a 6MOA rifle (assuming Federal ammo is being used), shooting 4MOA on a qualification test is one heck of a challenge to say the least.

Here are a couple of groups from an earlier session at the range this week (which prompted me to start this thread).

Both were 10 shot groups, @ 50 yds using optics, off of a simple rest (carpeted block of wood).

The T-22 group was right at 1 3/8". I didn't measure the "cheap bulk ammo" group as it was too disappointing.

My gun shop trip from earlier today wasn't in vain. I managed to snag a box of Remington Target Rifle (made by Eley LTD), a box of Fiocchi Biathlon Super Match, and a box of Federal Gold Medal Target. I'll run these over the chronograph during the next trip to the range. It will be interesting to see how they group on paper and how the numbers turn out from the chrono.

The 15-22 is a blast to shoot, but "I" will need more practice btw........ a lot more. :p

Off hand, 25 rounds of CCI std. velocity on each target, with holo sight.

I am not saying arizona98tj doesn't know how to shoot. Other people have had better, ..... ah .... luck, however.

Glad to be able to provide you with something to comment on. Feel free to review post #1 & #37....compare those numbers with those above, let me know what you find.

Here's my results on 11/28/2009. I shot 25 rounds of Federal value pack into this somewhat ragged hole. The quarter is there for size comparison. I did this at 50 yards offhand using an el-cheapo scope from walmart.

ok guys here are the groups i shot today. all these groups were shot at 50 yards off of sand bags on a concrete table. all are 5 shot groups except the ones i marked with the number 10, those of course are 10 shot groups. i found it very hard to squeeze off that 7 lb. trigger while keeping my crosshairs in the exact center of the bullseye while on 18x. I also found that it was picky on how you grip and torque the gun. as you can see there are several good 4 shot groups with one flyer. could be me, could be the gun. anyway here the results call it like you see it. the largest ring on the bullseye is just under 2 inches.

Once you find accurate ammo (benchrest the rifle), work on speed. (I'll be using Braden's research for a base point. Thanks for posting it!)

If you're getting 1" groups with 1" grouping ammo it only means you're not shooting fast enough! :)

50 yards. Standing. Unsupported. 100 rounds. 1 to 2 minutes including changing magazines. I'm more than happy with the accuracy of this carbine! Yeah, some are out of the black. That's a nine inch circle. Ammo is a mix of CCI and Super-X high velocity and CCI standard velocity. 20°F this weekend so I doubt I'll get back out.

I've posted these before, but they show the inherent real-world accuracy of the carbine. Mine, like many, is an inexpensive stand-in for my service M4 I can shoot just about anywhere.
