Just a bit of patience and a steady hand. I did the red and then the blue first, wiped off the excess with a small rag and mineral spirits and let the testors model paint dry. I used very fine brushes. I then did the white very carefully ans wiped off the excess-though there was hardly any.

I used to make some really detailed models as a kid and my friends say I could have been a neuro surgeon. Its nice that a steady hand can translate to good shooting as well.

why is your rear mbus sight backwards?

All the MBUS sights I see above are the same as on my MOE, and AFAIK are correct. Here's how S&W says they should be mounted:
