That's just the new M-LOK hand guard on the 15-22 Sport.Curious, What fore-grip is this?
It's still plastic.

Is there a thread for the melted crayon trick?! I would like to do mine but didn't know how the polymer would react to paint. Please excuse my noob knowledge!Picked mine up a couple weeks ago and love it! Pretty reliable and accurate with about 1,000 through it so far. Put a magpul afg2 grip on it and a sight mark red dot. Also did the old crayon melt trick for the wording on the lower.

Honestly this was my first time doing it and it was too easy. I took a white crayon and held it over the area I wanted filled in and pointed a blow dryer at it until it turned into a liquid. Then waited for it to somewhat solidify and then wiped it off with a paper towel. Then after I wiped off the excess I hit it again with the blow dryer to level and smooth it out. Hope this helps a little a I'm somewhat of a noob as well!Is there a thread for the melted crayon trick?! I would like to do mine but didn't know how the polymer would react to paint. No discoloration to the polymer? I was thinking about doing red or another color.Honestly this was my first time doing it and it was too easy. I colored the lettering and logo on the lower of my 15-22 just by rubbing the crayon over the letters until they filled in, then used some Goof Off or similar adhesive remover to wipe away the excess and wax streaks. Came out great and has been holding up really well so far. Since the initial coloring, Ive taken the gun to the range 5-6 times, shot it all day, then took it home and cleaned the entire gun throughout. Still looks bright and fresh like it did when I first applied it. I think the melting technique might make the wax fill in the lettering more evenly but its not necessary to get the job done. Ive gotten a lot of compliments on the red crayon job i did on mine. Good luck!I saw a video where they just colored the engravings without melting the crayon but it was on a slide which is metal.

This is my baby. My 1 year old S&W M&P 15-22. I got her when WalMart was nice enough to Price Match a circular flyer from Field and Stream. I got her for the low low price of $249! I only shoot CCI Mini Mags out of it, and I think that helps prevent all the problems others are having with this gun! Ive thrown over 1000 shots down range with this gun and honest to gods truth i am YET to have not even ONE jam, misfire, light strike, or dead round... Itll cycle through them as fast as you can feed her. I have 3 factory 30-round mags, that have never given me a problem! First i got her a 2-6 power illuminated scope. It has 6 shades of red lights for the cross hairs and 6 shades of green lights for the cross hairs. Once I sited her in Ive never had a problem. I can hit consistant at 50 yards, even 100 yards, She is just as accurate as a bolt action long barrel .22LR any day. Ive never had trigger problems or any problems for that matter. This is the BEST gun ive ever got for $249 and the whole family loves to shoot it and its cheap ammo too! (thats comparing 10cents a round to a bigger caliber at 50cents-$2 a round... I also got a 3 point sling with quick detachable front mount. And just this week i got her a verticle front grip that doubles as a bi-pod! I dont know what im going to do next to it, All i really want is to get my barrel threaded for this gnarly jagged edged muzzle break/flash supressor I found online. Im pretty happy with it!! I might just keep it the way it is and start building its "Big Brother" - a 5.56 real AR... Here are some pictures!
