evnash...i see you have your 15-22 in SAFE. is it uncocked? when uncocked mine is hard to put in SAFE...someone on here told me you arent supposed to force it into SAFE when uncocked like S&W's manual says. im not really sure why though. it was kinda explained in another thread

Again, your not supposed to be able to put the rifle into Safe if the action is not cocked. If you can, I suggest that you contact S&W to get your rifle repaired. If the tolerances are off enough to allow it to go into safe when not cocked, then it's possible they are off enough to allow the hammer to drop when it's cocked and in safe!

i will see what smith and wesson will do...i have probably only put 300 rnds through the rifle and no extractor issues yet...hopefully i wont have to send it in twice

im sure it was cocked with an empty chamber. i was messing around with it and just put a mag in for the pic. i dont think i can have it on safe without it being cocked.

i bought it uncocked in safe. also let a few people mess around with it and each time i got it back in SAFE uncocked. first AR type weapon for me and it seems reasonable to have it in SAFE like other weapons when uncocked but glad i found this forum and learned otherwise. i will be safe and send it back

are you sure its uncocked and not just the bolt in the forward position?
