M&P 15-22 Picture Thread

Got some more pics. Got it sighted and zeroed in a 50 yards.
I mounted both irons up front so that I could easily remove the scope when shooting with iron sights(I like shooting with iron sights every now and then). I like this M&P a lot!
My LGR let me go to town on the targets since no one else was there, and I started shooting targets as quickly as I could aim. From the target's point of view, I started shooting double taps from the center, then going to the left shoulder, then left abdomen, then right abdomen, right shoulder, followed by the head. I repeated till I ran out. From ~20 yards.

That's an rather short sight radius on the iron sights, especially with the rear sight so far from your eye. Have you actually tried shooting with that configuration?

i was going to say the same thing. kind of odd, never seen one with the BUIS in front, but who's to say it wouldn't work, just looks 'off'. personally i'd just take them off or get a shorter scope with a built in 7mm riser, get rid of that riser you have one it and put the BUIS back where they belong. it's your gun so have fun with it, but your BUIS is there in case the optic goes down, in this case you would have to remove the scope if the glass say broke, then you would have no sight picture at all. jus sayin....
I don't have any problems shooting it, if anything, sighting might be even easier since it becomes smaller the farther it is from your eye. You should try it, it's not bad at all. It's not like you're flopping around with the gun or something for the sights to mess up that drastically. I can shoot 1.5" targets 40' away with the Kimber, and this is just as easy.

Nice to see someone local to me. I bought my M&P15-22 at Hickory Ridge when they were first released. I'm thinking of going there this week to shoot. Let me know if your going this week and we can meet up.

Here is my 15-22 getting cozy with my Mossberg 500. The M&P has a forearm-grip, Panasonic red-dot, green laser, tac-light and the SBIS's on the right-side rail. I like to use 4-ball/1-tracer loadings in my mags just for the memories!

Why is your light on the bottom? It would be more ergonomic to have it on the side rail. You can activate it with your thumb then.
Good start keeping it simple to start off with. But you show early signs of "gadget-itis"

Well first off, it fits better in the soft case like that. When I walk out at night I turn it on and leave it on, so I don't need to be able to quickly activate it. On the bottom the beam seems to fall right in the sights. But things may change.

From a CQB perspective, this is the instructed position - either top or bottom. The reason for this is that your light shines parallel to the barrel, while not reflecting off of things like door frames or corners that the barrel would naturally be close to during room clearing. Thumb button wasn't an issue as we used pressure switches.
With that said, mine is mounted on an offset mount in the 1:00 position off the side rail so I can activate the thumb button....
And if you're clearing rooms with a 15-22, you have a STRANGE hobby. (And possibly a short-lived hobby.)

Not really, that's pretty much IDPA 3-gun matches right there.
And I was always taught 10:30 ish mount for light. Directly below is ok, for some applications, but the shadow it throws means important things can be in darkness. But a thumb activated unit directly below is hard to use.

Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand what shadow would result from mounting a light under the barrel. A 150+ lumen light mounted to the side reflecting off a white doorframe will temporarily effect your vision in total darkness. Just saying that in my opinion, the 6:00 position creates the least amount of problems overall. You realize we've completely hijacked the Picture Thread...
