I have been shooting my .22 Compact and once again it never ceases to amaze me.
I have put over 500 rounds of various 22LR ammo, some of which I had laying around, some off shore and some everyone said was junk and my little pistol just keeps on ticking! This the most reliable.22LR pistol I have ever had and that includes a High Standard, a Ruger SR 22P, a Ruger MKll and a couple of others, but the S&W is absolutely the best functioning I have ever shot.

Function on mine has been superb. No complaints at all. It has been back to the factory twice and had the barrel replaced twice and I still can't hit a barn from the inside. My High Standard and my Buckmark shoot much better. I have far more rounds down range on mine than you do on yours but I am relegating it to the safe. I am tired of the back and forth with S&W. Good luck with yours.

Capt Bob, What was the problem that required barrel replacement? Having problems with lead build up in as little as one trip to the range. Is there a recall or something I missed? Please advise.

This is a follow-up on my lead fouling of my new M&( 22 Compact. Perhaps there was something in there when I bought it. Or perhaps one of the Winchester bulk hollowpoint rounds broke up in the barrel. But after intensive cleaning, I took it back the range and this time fired 100 rounds of Winchester Super Speed Round Nose Copper Plated through it and it came back looking clean as a whistle. Yes, I am confused. I took the remainder of the 300 plus rounds of hollowpoints and fired them through my Mossberg Blaze 22LR and didn't see any sign of lead fouling. Perhaps the fouling of the S&W 22 compact was just my bad luck. I suggest anyone purchasing a new one, carefully inspect the barrel before going to the range. I really love the S&W 22 Compact, but I will watch it closely and report if any further instance of fouling. Oh, and no more hollowpoints through the pistol.
