I use a Blackhawk Serpa and like it.

Yep. The serpa is cheap (around $30), comes with belt and paddle attachments, has a level of retention, and demands a safe draw for training as it requires the index finger to address the frame naturally.
It will work for all m&p's regardless of size, with the exception of the shield.
Have fun and be safe.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have a related question. Mostly...am I missing something?
I picked up a Blackhawk Serpa Concealment Holster made for "S&W 5900/4000 9/40 including TSW models" for my M&P-22 and it does not seem to fit. It seem to be too tight. The slide slides back when I try to push it in and I can't even get it to push down far enough to get the to lock in. I took out the one screw that looked like it could be used to create tension and it didn't seem to make a difference. Did I get the wrong model or am I doing something wrong.
Any guidance would be appreciated. I'd love to not have to return this. Thanks in advance.
Happy to find this thread. I am looking for a open carry holster for my M&P 22. Basically what I am looking for is a holster to hold the M&P 22 that will closely emulate the carry and draw characteristics of my Glock 17 9mm in order to practice with a 22 pistol. Most that I have tried so far just don't fit or have the problem mentioned earlier in this thread of pushing back the slide on attempting to holster. There must be a holster out there that just works without having to worry about holding the slide in place. Based on the discussion so far here it seems that this holster should work: Level 2 Duty SERPA Holster - BLACKHAWK! What concerns me is that this model is not even mentioned in the very confusing fit chart at the Blackhawk web site. So would the holster mentioned above work based on the actual experience of anyone here? Or for those who have said that a Blackhawk has worked for them could any provide a link to the specific item? I would really appreciate any help.
