Also when you clean the gun take great care not to bend the ejector it's silver held in with two rivets . The part that right above the mag well when you open the slide.. field striping the gun and dropping the frame can bend it.. Running a cleaning rod through the front of the barrel can sometimes hit and bent the ejector. If you have a buddy that that also has a M&P 22 you can field strip both guns and compare the ejectors side by side would be a good indicator of it's aliment.. Yes clean the extractor well first as the above poster suggested.. But the ejector is a easy fix if you know just what to do.. You can get the cases to go where you want them to a great degree..
