M&P 40c - odd primer strike?

Hi All,
Working the kinks out of my new 40c - started picking up the brass and found what I would call really odd looking pattern on the brass.

It's sort of a 4 sided diamond pattern - see attached pic.

Question:
Is this normal - I'm used to the nice small dent without the scrape marks, etc.

Got to admit, that looks odd to me. None of my 3 M&P's leave a pin print like that. Might want to inspect that pin and/or send the pic to S&W.

That is common for most of the striker-fired designs on the market.

While cleaning the pistol I took note of the striker where the firing pin contacts the primer - it's shaped like the primer hit.

Still, I'll ask around a local board and probably contact S&W too.

Other sources indicate it's a function of the striker angle - the pins doesn't come straight out of the bolt face as on other guns, it comes out at an angle causing the odd marks.

mine look the same way. I'd never noticed it before but last Saturday when I was shooting some of my brass ended up the in the back of my truck and I checked them out. Thought it was interesting.
