While cleaning my 9c today after a range trip, I noticed that on the underside of the slide there were three dimples and on the underside of the barrel there was one tiny dimple. The gun is about one year old. What do the dimples signify, if anything?

My old 9c has 4 dimples...

Does that mean mine is more cute?

A lot M&P owners claims it signifies a newer barrel. I haven't ask S&W to confirm it.

This site talks about the updates. I have heard about the slide dimples meaning which machine made the parts. But some of the newer barrels have either 1 or 2 dimples. I'm sure there are more than 2 machines making the barrels. So I'm leaning towards the dimples in the barrels having newer 1:10 twist barrel. The top barrel in my pic is my 9c made nov 2012. The bottom is my FS9 about 5 months older. I guess I can just measure the twist to see what I get.
