I am about to purchase my first "real" handgun and I have decided on the M&P 9mm. I know I want to pick up more magazines as well but from what I have heard they are hard to find. For this reason I would like to purchase the range and carry kit because it comes with 3 magazines and some nice accessories for not much more than standard gun price. I called a few shops and they don't get many of these kits in. I don't want to wait forever to get this gun if I special order it. Those who have purchased the kit is it worth it and how long did it take to come in.

Do you have a link to one of those kits?

I just ordered a 9c yesterday and might be interested in the same thing.

Seems like the 9mm ammo is just as hard to find as the mags. I went to 5 gun stores (Sacramento) before I could find some...American Eagle.

i bought 9mm range kit 6 mounths ago .very well worth price and a good firearm .worth the price for extras.had in stock

The range kits are nice but very hard to find. I am not sure S&W is even producing them anymore. I tried to find one when I bought my 40fs.

Worth it for the Uplula and extra mag alone. I haven't used the holsters since my CCW quals, but it is nice to know I have them. They are too clunky for any daily sort of use. Oh, and it has earplugs too, and you can never have too many of those.

I purchased the Dark Earth 9mm kit from cabela's and am 100% happy with it. It took less than 2 weeks to get it in my hands, just under a year ago.

i bought mine last November and he had plenty coming in. I paid $569 and it has been well worth it.

Three mags, holster, speed loader, and 3 back pads which is nice when my wife wants to shoot my gun (switch to small pad). Last time I checked with my gun shop he wasn't getting any more in. Wonder why?

I purchased mine in December for $509+tax off the shelf.

The speed loader alone made it worth it.

I noticed Friday they had one in the display case again. $499+tax.

M&P 9mm range kit was my first handgun purchase I like really like it but it now costing me money once shooting it for awhile I had to get the 9c and then the 40 range kit and now on waiting list for a shield. Can't go wrong with M&P products.

I was lucky when I decided to go and look for my 40 range and carry kit I found it at the second store I stopped at. For me the three magazines is enough until the panic settles a bit. The mag loader is nice but I found after you use each mag few times they get easier to load, but it sure does save your fingers. The holster is decent but I prefer leather. If the wait isn't too horrible I would wait it out. I got mine late last December.

Isn't that the truth.

The difference in price is more than just buying a third magazine. Yes, I know you get the holster, magazine pouch and loader, but the holster and mag pouch are low grade Blade Tech stuff (yes, I know about them, but their low grade stuff is not the same as their higher grade products). The loader is, or at least was, the excellent UPLULA, but you can also buy those separately. So, I would say you should just buy whatever you can find first, the range kit or the pistol and an extra magazine. While waiting to find the pistol and extra magazine, you can go ahead and order a good holster and mag pouch from Paul Giannaula at PJ Holster. The UPLULA loader can be found anywhere - no panic buying on those! Just my thoughts.

I bought my range kit because I had two choices. That or a threaded barrel m&p9 with two magazines. They were both around the same price. The holster was useless to me since I'm a lefty but the third magazine was more useful than a threaded barrel ill never use

I'd get what ever you could get your hands on first. The kits are getting harder to find and you do want a FS-9. Things aren't going to be that easy to be picky about for awhile yet. First come first grab if you want one.

Always get the Range kits right now. The extra mag alone is worth it even if you don't use any of the other accessories.
Agreed, if you can find it get the range kit. Someone would be willing to pay $40 for that magazine right now. ;)

I bought my first handgun in November, the M&P .40 in the Range & Carry Kit. I haven't really used the holster but the third magazine and speed reloader alone are worth it.

Concur with the previous comments. Got mine for $530 out the door last week. The extras in the kit make it worth it. I'm seeing them go for closer to $700 on gunbroker right now...they're hot so grab one if you can.
