M&P front sight removal

As detailed as you wish to make it tell me how to remove the fron sight on my M&P 40.
How do I brace/support the slide, what to watch for, tools I should use?

Not cheap, but probably the best way to accomplish the job without taking the chance of messing it up.

IMPORTANT: the sights on the M&P go out from left to right as viewed from the rear of the slide. Install from right to left.

You can do it with a well padded vise or bench top and a drift and hammer. The cost of "oops" is high though, those front sights are tight.

I wanted to put Novak fiber optics on mine, just decided to send it to them and let them do it for 35 bucks, you only have to send the slide, so USPS it cheap to them. This may not apply to your plan however. That front sight is a devel to get off safely without a tool. The rear is not hard at all usually.
