There is a second reason I am beginning that the second mail-in rebate is BS. I bought an M&P 45 Shield at the beginning of June. Filed the rebate right away. Here we are, four months later and still nothing.

I love your firearms, Smith & Wesson. But this is where I draw a line. Four months is not acceptable to be waiting on a rebate.

Seems normal. I've done a lot of rebates from different types of companies and 3-6 months is fairly standard. Not to mention that there are probably a ton of rebates to process. There are people on this forum who bought 13 pistols under the rebate. No one who can afford guns and has an internet connection needs $75 that badly.

In today's world it shouldn't take more than two weeks to in put the mail in rebates and two days to pay. If it is done on line then two days should be adequate for the whole process. Anything over that is intentional or incompetent. I'm not complaining because I don't do rebates, I'm just saying he has a right to complain.

He has the right to complain. S&W surely knew this would spur sales. Especially since this is the second round of rebates. It simply shouldn't take that long. Not in this day and age. I remember mailing in box tops for X-ray specs when I was about 10. Took 8 weeks.

Got mine pretty quick for my 45 Shield. Purchased it around mid May, got it first week of July.

I'm going to say this is a normal time frame. My gf had a rebate for Springfield before they started including everything with the gun. Took about 3 months. I have had several rebates from other manufactures who are not firearms related that have taken a while. Took 6 months for Daiwa to send me a rebate for some fishing reels I ordered.

Many rebates are given to raise the company's bottom line for a particular quarter so don't expect a rebate to come for one or two quarters after that.

Companies that meat the WSJ expectations don't need to give rebates. It's companies that aren't meeting expectations that need to show more revenue to satisfy Wall Street and the stock holders.

Actually, according to my understanding of finance, rebates normally boost the top line, often at the expense of the bottom line. They're also sometimes used as a way to stimulate reduction of inventory levels.

I bought two guns 4 months apart during the rebate period got my first and second rebate without issues, bought them because of the price the rebate was just a bonus. In case you don't know the company handling the rebate is called Milano perhaps you need to give them a call and find out the status of yours.

We got these things called computers now and databases and OCR and printers. Nobody's filing paper forms and tabulating index cards. Taking months to do a simple fulfillment operation is goldbricking.

Look at Glock. You don't see them doing rebates. They sell themselves.

This was a LONG time ago. Four years ago. And people, myself included, had a right to be pissed.

Yes it was. And in post 83 of that thread you said you would buy guns from several other manufacturers BUT NO MORE S&W. And yet here you are again. You bought another one and you have another complaint. Just sayin'.

There is more than enough evidence that the rebates are taking too long. The fact that there have been two or more active threads about the rebates pretty much CONSTANTLY for the last couple of months proves they have not been handled very well.

As I understand it, the rebates are being handled by a separate company contracted by S&W.
Did they choose the wrong company to handle this for them? Maybe.
Was the response so much greater than they expected that they are overwhelmed? Possibly.
Did S&W intentionally set this whole rebate thing up to fail and give themselves a black eye? HIGHLY DOUBTFUL.
Will everyone who complies with the terms of the rebate and provides sufficient proof of purchase during the specified time frame get their rebate? Probably.
Will it happen quickly enough to satisfy all of them? Obviously not!
