M & P Shield - Big Dots or Truglo TFO?

Being a 3 dot hater, I picked the Big Dots for my PM9 (my EDC). My rear sight does illuminate but I could care less if it didn't. When I first started using these sights, I focused really hard on making a proper lollipop with mixed results. I progressed to covering the bullseye with the dot and ignoring the rear sight and much to my surprise my groups are now 2" or so at 15 yards. 2" might not sound so good but please understand these groups are out of a pocket auto and I am shooting as fast as I can re-acquire the front sight. Love my XS sights and wouldn't trade them for anything.

I have used both the Big Dots and Ameriglo Pro i-dot sights and I think the Pro i-dot sights are much better.

The rear sight on the Big Dot doesn't illuminate, so in low light situations (indoor range) it can be a little difficult to see.

The Pro i-dots have a nice sharp illumination for low light and during brighter lights, the front sight has a white outline ring around it, so it's easy to see.

My accuracy and speed increased with the pro i-dots.

+1...

I have both the Big Dot and I Dot Pro on two same sized, same caliber GLOCKs and although both are good sights, I prefer the I Dot Pro.

I have Tru glows on a 40 and really like them. But actually on my other guns I bought one of those sight paint kits. Figured what the heck try it cus if I don't like it I am gunna switch sights anyways and that stuff really works. Paint the front one orange and the back ones green and it really works good. Nice thing about Smith and Springfield factory sights is white dot is already a pretty good size so the paint even makes them look bigger.

I have Ameriglo Pro-idots on many of my guns and love them. I didn't put them on my Shield .45 because I put on Trijicon 3 dot night sights. I may however switch them out for the Ameriglo Pro-idots. Best of luck with your decision. Please keep us posted.

I'm 80 years old, I have TFOs on both of my shields a 9mm and a 40mm. They work really well for me.

I like both. On my (2) Glocks that I own I have the XSBD sights. But, the rear sight on both are the non Tritium sight.

Just took my new M&P 2.0 45 with ameriglo i-dot sights to range Saturday. I liked them very much. Fast aquisition, easy to see. Good accuracy at 25 yards.
Edited to add. I had a pair of the truglo fiber optics on one of my Glocks. I really liked the sights but melted them after one range trip with one of the gun solvents accidentally splashed them, so they were to fragile for me.
