I have only the highest respect for law enforcement and wish they were better paid. I'm also thankful this officer was saved by his pistol. But, I can't help but wonder why the pistol was holstered during a gun battle.

I grew up in Chicago and now live in a nearby Suburb. I watched this all unfold on the local news from the time it started. Officer Samuel Jimenez who was on the CPD for a short time was killed in the shooting. He was 28 years old married with 3 kids...he just came off of a 1 1/2 year probationary period. The shooter also shot and killed his girlfriend who was a Doctor and another woman who was a pharmacy tech...he also was shot and killed. This was a domestic abuse incident. The Officer whose gun was struck (in the pic) was administering first aid to the first shooting victim (shooters girlfriend) Very sad that the killer killed 3 young people in the prime of their life who were all helping other people. This is the 2nd Police Officer killed in Chicago this year. Please say a prayer for the innocent victims and their families who are having a horrible Thanksgiving! The shooter was shot in the abdomen by SWAT (rifle) and then shot himself in the head in the lobby of the hospital. He used a Legal Glock 17, had a CCW permit and worked as a Security Guard. He currently resides in HELL
