Just as the title says, has anyone talked to S&W about the TDL not staying in place? Mine will rotate taking off the slide and putting the slide back on. I dont mind holding the lever but I just dont want to break any part's.

There are a lot of posts on this board concerning that. My .40c did not do this initially but has been for a while now. My 9c and 357fs have not shown this behavior yet. There are some reports that some filing on the take down lever can fix this. I have not tried that yet.

I did a search and found the thread regarding the take down lever fix. Took me about 1 minute and now the lever works correctly. It wasn't really a big deal before anyway but it is nice to have it working properly.

I should have mentioned that even though most guys seem to be working the guide rod also I didn't. Just filed the nub off of the TDL and slightly (very slightly) rounded the sharp corner.

Interesting topic here and on related threads. What's occurring internally with the take down lever? I understand the end result as far as field stripping and assembly go. I don't know a lot of the terminology, so if someone would explain it in layman's terms that would help.

Can someone posts picture or link to the nub that's being filed?

The evil nub

I had this inconvenience on my M&P 45. Thanks to the info in this thread and a little file work, now I don't. Before and after pics attached. Thanks

Just a quick question. Is this issue with the Mag out or in?

I have noticed it if I leave the mag in, but never had the problem with Mag out.

Yes, a BIG thank you to whoever came up with this fix. A couple of minutes is all it took to fix the problem. Use a fle, not a Dremel, and it's hard to get in trouble.

Maybe S&W would hire us as stay at home technicians to give advice and file the bars down for them?

Now a question for the veterans. Should we take the bar that has been filed and have it re-blued?

Happy

I always thought that TDL should stay in position, after reading the other thread, I took mine apart and went down to my basement and touch up the TdL where the bump was and ground it off with a dremel tool. 30 seconds later it is perfect!!!
