M&P trigger weight difference

Bringing up an old topic, but is the standard trigger always going to be lighter than the MA trigger? Negative opinions on heavy triggers always say they aren't smooth, but is there any way to have a smooth 10lbs. trigger?

Buy a Third Generation DAO gun.

Bill

That would be one option. I guess my question really is is there a way to have a smooth 10lbs. trigger on an M&P? What I basically want is the same general feel as the standard trigger, but a few pounds heavier in pull.

From what I've read it's all about perception.
Try a sigma and see how smooth your M&P becomes immediately and somewhat magically. If you're used to shooting SA 1911 that breaks @ 2.5-3 lbs then any DA is going to feel rough, if for no other reason because you're not used to the extra pressure and travel. W/time and use any trigger will smooth out to a certain degree...

I learned to shoot with a Sigma. I've also experienced the DA trigger on TDA Sigs and dry-fired a few TDA 99 series pistols. The DA pulls on those guns are long but not excessively heavy for my taste. I have fired an MA-spec M&P with the 10lbs trigger but it's been a while so I can't remember whether it's just like the standard trigger only heavier.

Checking with our lead armorer, both the trigger return and sear springs are different with the Mass compliant pistol.

It may be possible to just change the springs, but it's MUCH easier to change the whole sear block and then the trigger return spring. Changing the sear spring is supposedly....very interesting.

We took one apart at the armorer's school. The instructor said it was for "fun" but we shouldn't have to do it. Darn sure broke me of the urge to take it apart and see how it works. Definitely and educational part of the day.
I think I'd agree, change out the whole thing if you want the change.

Thanks for the information. Makes me think I should just order it with the heavy trigger from the factory...or buy the used Walther P99 AS my local gun store just got in which has a 12lbs DA pull and 4-5lbs. SA pull. And forgive me for what is probably a dumb question, but will changing the two springs make the trigger feel any different beyond just being heavier? It's too bad you can't get an M&P from the factory with the heavy trigger and full capacity magazines.
