M&P.... whats up with the trigger???

why are glock people so sensitive about their guns?
It's like this...when you claim perfection you have two choices; either you really develop the gun into perfection (which Glock didn't do) or you just simply get the fanboys to refuse to acknowledge that it isn't perfect. When people point out flaws you simply put you fingers in your ears, close your eyes, shake your head back and forth and say "la la la la la la la la". It's an ignorance is bliss sort of thing.

Thanks guys for the Hi-point responses. Appreciate it. I think I read one review where the owner had thousands of rounds and has yet to clean it.. :) I guess that's the fun of owning guns. For me, taking them apart, seeing how they work, cleaning, modifying and generally tinkering.. Been working up a nice work bench and organizing my garage, "mancave" Been purchasing gun tools, just picked up a nice vice, have my rifle vise, a bunch of AR tools... got the HD up on the wall.. if I wasn't doing this, I'd be bolting down the vise, running the cable for the tv and a few other things.. actually, think I'll bring the laptop out on the bench and tinker.. half time for all the fottball games..

Oh ya, won a few bucks on the Blackjack table New Years eve... going down to pick up the Hi-point tomorrow, but not enough to pick-up the M&P40c I put a couple bucks on last week, yet.. it was on a wicked sale at S&W retail store.. $440.00.. before tax.. :D

Fanboy!!:D

Can we get a range report on that hi point? that way we can tell you how much it sucks :) nah, but really, I've heard good things about it. seems like a good carbine for the money.

I'll get ya one soon, I can actually shoot it at the indoor range at Smith&Wesson Retail store..

On a side note.... new vise installed on the work bench.. yes!! What next... I really want to figure how how I'm gonna run the cable tv cable..

Ok.. I picked up that Hi-point 9mm carbine today... I think maybe I will start a new thread, as it reeally doesn't belong here.. No clue where to post it, but keep an eye out if interested.. All I can say.. it was a blast!!! :D

Well I looked, don't see anywhere here that a gun post about something other than a S&W would be appropriate....

chad, I applaud you sir for pointing out the rules.

This thread is however, is nothing compared to the insults and bashing that goes on in the sigma forum. It goes unchecked over there.

If you say something nice about the sigma, the KIA driving cowboys come out of the woodwork with their insults.

I have never seen a mod jump in and put a stop to it in that particular forum.

Something that warrants attention in my view.

I Have the M&P 40 and I love the trigger and think it is much better than the Glock in every way. I am sure others will disagree and thats fine just my opinion. I shot both glock and M&P fine...the M&P just felt better in my hand and I had no issues with trigger reset. It may be different than the glock but...when you shoot it some, for me it was a non-issue. If you were a glock only guy for years then it may take longer to adjust. If you were a M&P guy for years and then go shoot glocks it would probably take time to adjust to them too. Doing the dealer dance with one will only tell you so much. Get some real trigger time before you make your decision.

This is going to sound really funny, but I have a BB gun duplicating the M&P, and I really like the feel of the thing. Reviews said it was exactly the same size as the real gun. Of course the weight is way lighter. Now, to the point. I carry a third gen. 3913LS that I came across. It really has a soul and I absolutely love it, but would like to know if anyone has had the opportunity to shoot both and their comparison of each. No place to rent an M&P and I certainly can't afford both. When asked what I carry I tell everyone it's a 9mm Notaglock. I have nothing against Glocks but I like to have fun. Thanks all.

I own 3 S&W handguns. 3953tsw & M&P 9compact. My understanding is that the 3913 & 3953 are similar. I like both of mine. I shot the 9c, before I purchased it, not the 3953tsw. Now I've shot both. I love both, but for some reason I am more accurate with the 3953tsw.

I am a novice, so I have no idea why. Any and all suggestions for improvement welcome!? Trying to learn. This forum has really helped me think.

I like the trigger pull on the 3953tsw better. Seems smoother, or maybe more consistent? Maybe that's why I'm more accurate? Could it be the split trigger on the 9c? I wondering about the trigger pulls after reading this forum. Never hear of a "reset" on the trigger. More knowledge!

I like both handguns because both fit my hands. I do not own double stack anything. I have no callouses, small, weak hands, & lack upper body strength. The only Glock that I've held, several years ago, were plastic grips & rough in my hands. I liked the weight, but at that time the dealer advised me there was no option to install rubber grips. I have rubber grips on the wheelgun (snubbie) & TSW.

My other half likes Sigs. I shot them once. I can't hold on to them when I'm shooting: gun grip & my grip are not compatible. My other half enjoys my 9c, but not the TSW. We agree, he has his guns, I have mine. :)

I enjoy learning from all you guys! Any suggestion to improve my accuracy? Thanks in advance.

I rarely find anyone who can't be trained to be a much better shooter.

As I mentioned in another post, , I place a coin on a flat top slide, which the M&P's and Glock's are and dry fire with a snap cap. The coin should not fall off. I use the "push pull" method and semi-lock-up my wrists, elbows and shoulders, which most of the top action shooters practice and this makes for a very stable platform. It will also prevent "limp wristing", which causes the slide to short cycle and not fully extract the empty case. Learn to sqeeeeze the trigger, instead of jerking, using the pad of your index finger. If practiced till they become second nature, you will become a better shooter.
I'm 65 and can still put my shots into a quarter sized group at 8 yards with my M&P with stock trigger and have put them into a nickel sized group with lighter triggers.

Thank you! I will practice! One more question, I've never seen a snapcap work with a semi, except my shotgun. Does is extract when I pull the slide to "cock" it so the trigger will fire? Then I just replace it with another? Thanks! (yeah, I'm new to this)

Yes, but with some guns like the M&P, you only have to pull the slide back a fraction of an inch to re-cock it and the snap cap will stay in place.
