I like my M&P .22 but looked at a M&P 15-22, said no way. I'll just put the CMMG .22 conversion on one of my M Forgeries, same weight/trigger, can pop it out, clean the bore and be back to 5.56 in minutes.

According to S&W's web site, the M&P 22 has a click adjustable rear sight. However, looking at the online images, it doesn't appear so. True?

I have had mine for a couple of weeks. I have only shot Remington Golden Bullet .22LR out of it as that's all I have been able to get recently. Works great. No issues with my M&P22 so far. I paid $379 including the $10 background check fee.

Great gun. Have several thousand rounds of various ammo like federal, Winchester, whatever is cheap. Never a failure. The finish touches up with birchwood Casey super black in flat. A perfect match if needed.
I wouldn't buy an MP22 again. The MP15-22 I would buy 10 of, but the MP22 I have owned since September, and I have YET to find ONE 10rd magazine in stock or online anywhere. I have one 10 rd mag, that came with the gun, and nobody ever has them, and I have contacted Smith and Wesson, and they don't give ETAs even. What kind of BS that you get ONE mag with a gun, not even 2, and can't buy any more mags? Plus, I have ran 4 kinds of ammo through it, and it fails to feed properly at least 1-2 rounds per 10rd mag, which is garbage.
I have put bricks through my MP15-22, and not one hiccup ever. It's crazy my best 22 rifle is the 15-22, and my worst pistol ever is it's stablemate the MP22. even my old 22 revolver still works perfect that I have had since I was a kid.

Sorry about your problems, mine has been pretty much flawless with anything I've shot. Gun shop where I bough mine had a rack full of mags...

That's crazy. I got one of the first ones that came out. Ordered 5 mags when I picked it up and had them with-in two weeks. Ordered 4 more late last Fall and had them in a few days. Have had zero issues with the MP-22 and it runs like a clock. I clean after every range trip, I stay away from "junk" ammo and (try) to stick to copper coated.

Those are 12 round magazines, he was complaining he couldn't find 10 round magazines.
Got one, love it. I had a SIG Mosquito and it was very high quality, but would only cycle with CCI mini mags.
The grip on the Ruger SR22 stinks.
The M&P22 works perfectly with my stash of CCI SV ammo and I prefer the full size frame.

Have 5000 rnds through mine . Love it. Never had a problem. As you can tell by all the above responses, I'm not alone.
My suggestion is to clean it before you use it. There is a lot of shipping grease. Although others have said they took it box to range with no issues.
I would stay away from Rem Thunderbolt. It leads up the barrel.

I have 5000+ rounds through mine without a single hiccup. It eats any kind of ammo I have run through it: CCI Stingers & Mini-Mags, Blazer, Thunderbolt, Federal and Winchester Bulk. While it's true that some ammo is dirtier than others, it really doesn't matter to me as I clean the gun after every range trip (150-200 rounds), and one can't be too fussy given the current shortage. You have to shoot what you can find.
The only minor issue I have is that the roll pin on the frame next to the take-down lever starts to back itself out on the ejection port side a small fraction (maybe 1/32nd) of an inch after 150-200 rounds. I just tap it back in flush. I called S&W about it and they sent me a new roll pin which I haven't even bothered to install yet. No big deal.
All-in-all, I'm very pleased with the gun. It is accurate, fits my hand like my other M&P's and runs like a clock!

I've had mine for about 18 months. When I first bought it mags were impossible to find. Functioning has always been 100% but mine needed a few hundred to shoot with reasonable accuracy. Just about the time the ammo shortage hit my M&P22 started to become accurate.
So, even though I like my M&P, I really haven't shot it all that much. Lately ammo is starting to become available around me, so I'll have to start shooting it again. Oh yeah, I did manage to score an extra mag so that helps. Good gun, just a logistics problem with supporting items

Bought mine about a month ago as a family gun. The past two weekends me and my daughter have run a little over 300 rounds through it. Had 2 FTEs and 1 FTF with Winchester 333 bulk in one mag, everthing else was perfect, an old coffee can full of assorted old stuff with about 8 different headstamps, and new Norma Tac 22, and Aguila Match Pistol. I really like the way it feels in the hand and shoots. A big thumbs up, so far.
I just bought one last week and went to the range on Saturday with it. I'm a little concerned with my results but maybe you all can point me in the right direction.
First mag was clean, no issues at all, loved the gun. Every mag but one after that (15ish total run through the gun that day) had an issue of some sort. In one case, 8 shots had a FTF/FTE. All the ammo fired correctly but wouldn't cycle worth a dang.
To the guns defense I did not clean it before shooting it but I've read enough places that I shouldn't have to with this one. I plan on a through clean and lube and will try again next Saturday. At this point, I couldn't recommend the gun to anyone.

Cleaned and put another 120 rounds through the gun today. Much better, with only 8 failures overall. I was very impressed with how well the gun ran today and look forward to many more happy trips to the range today.

You're not alone, mine is a lemon of a pistol....but I love it and I'm not sending it back. It's the best malfunction trainer out there. Shoots like a pistol, is relatively accurate and absolutely sure to jam. Mine probably jams/malfunctions 1x per mag. And you gotta know I'm a hell of a lot more proficient at getting it back in the fight now than prior. I may sound crazy but she's a keeper , and I don't think I'm gonna send it in for warranty either.

To further clarify, I get FTeject, double feeds as a result, FTfire (soft firing pin strikes) , and stove pipes all with regularity. And surprisingly enough I do get clean mags from time to time as well. I have 3 mags, and cant seem to isolate any as being better or worse. It likes CCI and high velocity ammo more than cheap junk but will malfunction with just about anything.
Once I got over the initial frustration of a "crappy gun" I realized how good it is as a trainer, which is exactly why I bought it. I now regularly "tap, rack, click", drop the mag-rack-rack-rack (and hopefully clear the FTE) then reload &fire, swipe a stove pipe off re-rack and fire, all in all it's been great for my development. I used to stumble through malfunction drills often having to stop and think. I still sometimes fumble a bit, but I'm much better than I used to be. I often think about sending it in as I know these can be great-RELIABLE pistols, but mine such a good trainer I'm keeping it as is...at least for now.
In between the hicups, its accurate and a joy to shoot. Since I do get clean mags every now and then it still retains is fun factor. I even shot an informal steel match with it the other day. 60 rounds and only 2 malfunctions, mine times weren't top tier but respectable and I enjoyed it as much as I do when shooting my M&P45.

I got mine the middle of last week and I had it out 2 times. I love the way it feels in my hand but I am still all over the place with it. So far I have put about 200 rounds. Many of them tend to go about 4 o clock. Since I am left handed this is odd for me. I will have it out again in a few days if the rounds are still low and right I will play with the sights.

I've got one, it's a beautiful gun that shoots well and reliably! It is "full-size" dimensionally, though lighter than its centerfire brethren.
I like that it uses the same barrel retaining nut system as the Walther P22, which of course means a P22 bushing adaptor fits perfectly. I also like overall feel of robustness...it's a "real pistol" that functions like a real pistol should - notably in that the slide locks back on an empty mag.
The 10 CA mags are easily restored to 12 rounds by removal of an insert...they function perfectly, however based upon the most recent laws-passed-cycle, only 10 round capacity is allowed regardless of acquisition date.
A tip on operation...after clearing the pistol and ensuring an empty chamber, the slide is returned to battery, empty mag inserted, then....EASE the slide back until you feel it just touch the "hump" of the cocked hammer...pull the trigger to "drop" the hammer and you have the hammer down without "snapping" on anything or risking damage to soft barrel trunion.
Overall I find the M&P22 to be well-executed and a pretty good value...one day pristine specimens will probably sell for a pretty penny...or not.

The only complaint I have about this pistol is the difficulty in getting additional magazines for it. It's a great training pistol for new shooters and is generally very well designed.

It seems like there are so many different experiences with this amazing firearm. I bought mine over two years ago now to target practice as it feels just like my full-size M&P 9mm. However, it only shoots Remington Golden Bullets or CCI mini mags without a flaw. Any other type of 22LR target ammo like Federal, will not eject the shell almost every other round in a twelve round clip. I've shot over 3,000 rounds and it still behaves poorly unless I use the Remington or CCI ammo (which is VERY hard to find these days).
I also wish S&W would produce a new rear 2-dot site like the full-size 9mm & .40 M&Ps. I painted the inner part of the "U" shaped rear site white and now it looks similar to the Glock-style rear site. I've heard many folks say you can slightly modify the steel 9mm rear sites for fit, being very careful not to damage the aluminum slide. I've yet to do this, but plan to do so soon.
All in all, it's a great .22 plinker and trainer for the full-size M&Ps.
