I've been tinkering with USGI M1 carbines for about 20 years.

Here's my 1943 Springfield M1 rifle, 1943 IBM M1 carbine, and 1943 Ithaca M1911A1

I've loved M1 carbines back to the days of the 60's when I ruled the local wood lot with my Crossman M1 bb gun. These days , I have one very nice 44' vintage (Inland rebarreled) Winchester in the collection. (Sorry no pics at the moment.) It broke my heart to give $650 for it but it's worth it. That said, I can remember when an M1 Carbine could be bough for $67 at the local Woolworth's store. (and I'm talking as recently as the 80's). Man I wish my 401K had been invested in these little guns!

Old Timer's Story: In the early 1960s NRA Members could purchase M-1 Carbines from DCM for $20.00 plus $2.00 shipping

My Dad got one of those $20 M1's.....Went to a roost to shoot buzzards......With ball ammo......Everyone he shot flew away.......He sold it......I was only knee-high then........

This is an old pic. There are 11 of them now. I call it my band of brothers & cousin Rocky.
All are Inlands except for the early Rock-Ola at the bottom. Just love these things! ;)
By the way, none of them wear mag pouches on their stocks any more, since I found out
how they can damage the wood.

...And g.i. ball ammo for about 1¢/Rd.

I recently bought a pretty decent Inland with a few non-original small parts on it. I have a doctor friend who is a SERIOUS carbine collector and expert in all things .30 carbine. He put it exactly as issued/correct and I gifted it to my wife's uncle who had gifted me two nice guns over the years.

One of the my dumbest moves was not buying one of these at the Denver Gunshow in 1993 or 94. The stock didn't look right but it had all the documentation from the DCM and the Railway Express Agency paperwork also. As I recall, the price was under $500.00.
