I just received my Great Uncle's collection of firearms following his passing. I am trying to gain information about a S&W M10.

S&W Model 10-? (Its hard to read. It looks like 4, 5 or 6 depending on the angle. I think it's a 6)
Hand Ejector
Serial#: C630XXX
38 S&W Special CTG
4 Inch Barrel
Fixed front sight 1/8"
Only 2 Screws on the side plate
1 strain screw on the front gripstrap

Welcome to the forum. May your Great Uncle rest in peace. His old 38 M&P will clean up nicely and after doing some basic function checks it should give you 60 more years of great service.

BTW, there is another side plate screw under the stocks (grips).

Yes, it is a Model 10-5. The barrel profile proves it cannot be a 10-6. It is a bit late to be a -4 and the 1/8" front sight is consistent with a dash 5.

Nice inheritance.

Absolutely!

I also received his Winchester Model 100 308 (Manufactured in 1962), Remington Model 1100 12ga (Manufactured in 1968) and he gave me his Winchester Model 94 (Manufactured in 1954) about 12 years ago.

I'm definitely holding on to them!
