Magazine Load Assist Buttons?

I was under the impression that mags limited to 10 rnds came with no load assist button. Only the 25 rounders do. Anyone correct me if Im wrong.

10 shorts and 25 rounders come with the buttons, only the
10rd long mags dont come with the buttons.

Maybe is an assembly thing. They cant get the button in due to the order of assembly steps and the pin.

i never really understood the reasoning behind that.

Seems logical to me. With the 10 round short & the 25 round long, the spring is under maximum tension when the magazine is fully loaded. That makes pushing in the final few rounds quite difficult without the load assist buttons. With a 10 round long, which has the exact same spring as the 25 round long, the spring is nowhere near fully compressed after only 10 rounds. Guess S&W figured there was no need for assistance in loading only 10 rounds in such a long magazine designed to hold 25.

Wonder if Promag would sell them? I pulled one out of a Promag mag, and stuck it in a 10 round long mag and it works just fine. Since they can't sell the mags anymore because of the lawsuit, maybe they can sell mag parts.

I just bought some on ebay, a couple vendors have them.

15-22 Mags

I live in a state that is not looking to limit my rights to own 25 round mags. But the only ones being produced appear to be pinned at 10.
And I'm sure many others on here have signed S&W's petition to stop the present round of gun control. In this light I find it disingenuous of them to only produce the 10 round mags and not offer us the full 25. Yes I know how easy the conversion may be, but the load assist does come into its own on the 25 round mags (I own several).
The company response is "they are not needed in the 10 round and with the pin in place don't work" I would suggest if the address is in a non control state good business would suggest this may not be the correct response.

I don't fully understand the long 10 round magazines myself....why bother? The short 10 rounders work great and they have the load assist, I'm not sure why S&W makes the long ones anyway and if they do they should figure out how to put a button in there.

I can make a case for S&W making 10 round longs to sell on states that limit capacity. If I lived in one, I'd buy them in case I moved to a free state later or the law got repealed. Then I'd convert them.
