Magpul B.A.D. lever

I didn't explain myself good enough....I was playing devil's advocate. The person I responded to thought the BAD level would get hung up on stuff...yet....he liked the over sized charging handle. I was trying to show him that both are might appear to be susceptible to getting snagged on things but they do not.

I run a BAD and an over sized charging handle...love them both and wouldn't dream of removing either one.

BCM charging handle is worth every penny (I went with the mod4, $45), very worth it. And the BAD lever is worth the price too (25 bucks or so). Like others have said these are probably the least expensive but most useful add on's/upgrades you can do to your rifle.

I can't articulate how much better the BCM gunfighter CH is from the stock CH.

The reason I like the charging handle is that I can see a value in it since I have a scope. However, I would probably go with the Mod 4 (which is shorter). It's not a contradiction. It's simply a matter of performing a cost/benefit analysis and deciding if the benefits are worth the cost. For me, a slightly longer charging handle might be worth it. The BAD lever is not. Your mileage may vary.

I finally found the best use I have found for the bad lever, I was shooting some 75gr bullets that are too long for the magazine so you load them singly. the bolt would lock to the rear after the shot and then you would insert another bullet and hit the bad lever to send the bolt forward and put the bullet into the chamber. It was really handy for this.

I just don't get the point of a BAD lever. Seems like a waste of money and time (no offense) and provides something to hang up. Now I will admit, there are a lot of things that I don't get. So maybe it's just me.

That GF charging handle does look sweet though!

X2 on the Terrible lever.

And the charging handles you can skip also. They make more force go to one side and eventually have broken...you are not pulling straight on them anymore. You are pulling "left".....

These things are not on combat weapons for a reason.

I do agree the BAD levers are not for everyone but if you want it get it, if you don't, don't. Seriously yesterday evening was the most I ever used the lever and that was from loading the bullets singly. I do still think it has a "cool" factor. And to paraphrase Foxtrot its your money spend it as you wish.

I bought the BAD lever for my M&P 15 MOE and it doesn't work on my rifle. There is a flare on the lower receiver that prevents it from working on my rifle. I find it funny that MAGPUL is stamped on my lower and I can't even use one of their products on it!

Looks like I'll be selling it to my buddy who's building a Spike's rifle now.

You can hand fit it by gently bending it in a vice. That's what us 15-22 owners do to get it to fit.

I have BAD levers on both of my ARs (a M&P15 and a frankenrifle).

I do believe this is why BCM developed their gunfighter charging handle. You can wear out a stock charging handle continually "power stroking" it. I can't remember off the top of my head but I remember reading that there is a mechanical enhancement to the BCM charging handle to alleviate this symptom by providing a more even pull while charging on one side of the handle. I have one and it seems to work as advertised.

I don't visit two way shooting ranges, so YMMV. If it's terrible because you can't justify the $45 bucks or so then thats a different story. It is worth it IMO, and a very nice charging handle that was machined a lot better than the stock CH that was on my m&p15, WAY LESS side to side movement while charging the weapon. And if the idea of having a huge lever on the charging handle, they make several mods that have all different sizes of release levers. Again your money your choice, just don't put the BCM handle on blast because of people swapping out their stock changing handle's release lever for an oversized one (which IMO will yield the results you warn of)

Different strokes for different folks. It's all good.

The advantage of firearms that have extensive aftermarket support is that they can be customized to fit an individual shooter. The disadvantage of relatively easy & abundant customization/accessorizing is that some individuals irrationally believe that an inanimate object is a reflection of themselves.

B.A.D. lever, BCM, stock, super modded, A2, M4, whatever... it's all good.

I changed out my charging handle when I built my second AR out of the leftover parts from customizing my Sport. I had put a Nordic rifle length Free Floating handguard and like the quality so much that when I saw they make a heavy duty charging handle and I was having to buy one anyway I purchased it. It doesnt weigh but a couple of grams more than the original but it is way beefier. My Dad bought one for his Colt A3. If you pay attention you can feel the flex in the original charging handles, even the milspec ones. I think that is why military M4's dont have anything in the way of the charging handle, so you can get the grip you are supposed to on it. Due to the big scope on my hunting AR, I cant really get the correct grip on it so I have the extended lever, I use to have a bigger extended than I do now but I dont have any problem charging the rifle with the scope in the way.

Just go a little bit at a time. I would bend it a little, test fit it, and then repeat until it was just right on the 15-22.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to bend it enough last night to make it work. Then I used some aluminum touch up to bring the color back. Looks good and functions good.

The main issue I have seen with the BAD lever is people accidentally hitting it during mag changes which slams the bolt shut on an empty chamber and adds an extra moment where they have to work the charging handle.

This is why we train.

But to be honest, I wouldn't judge my ability to use something based on another person's shortcomings. Were that true, there would be a lot of things in this world I never would have tried. :)

People that don't train must learn to accept whatever comes along....good, bad, or indifferent.
