Man Rooms, Man Caves, etc.

I like to keep it kinda normal from the outside.

Is that an Oak? Why so many trunks?

Your house looks real nice.

Mine is the back porch, off the kitchen. Finished walls, storm windows all the way around. Cable and big screen, futon, table and chairs, carpet, lots a goofy signs hanging on the walls, heated by kerosene, cooled by open windows and a big fan. Lots of beer drinking, sports watching, and general cussing of society has occurred on "The Porch" over the years.

I could live back there if I had to, and it's occasionally been suggested . . .

A few years ago we built a 3200 sf house on a couple of acres with an office, 500 sf upstairs bonus room, and 3 car attached garage. I work in the office occasionally but my wife works in there a lot more and scatters papers and files everywhere so I rarely use it. My 25 yr old step son moved back with us and is living in the upstairs bonus room and the 3 car garage is so full of stuff I dread going in there. Many times when I need a tool I'll just go buy a new one instead of searching though all the stuff in the garage and normally, I'm a very organized person but I guess I've given up on trying. No man cave for me.

I am working on mine, as I strongly dislike painting.

Mule Packer, I would appreciate a few close-ups of the bindings on your snowshoes. I have two pair without bindings and would like to be able to use them.

Actually have three man caves.
The first is my shed-got a wooden pirogue in it now awaiting good weather so I can finish painting it. Once I get that done I'll have more room at my work bench. Second one is my office. Apart from the public area/conference room and office-I have a couple of rooms reserved for the stuff my wife doesn't know about as well as a single bed, kitchenette, TV, full bath and ice box. (office of 14 miles away from home). My third man cave is mobile-old blue-during hunting season she always has hunting accoutrements so I can go hunting at the drop of a hat, likewise in the summer months it's fishing/boat stuff.
One's man cave is where one makes it. Sometimes all it takes is a footlocker and a chair in the corner somewhere.

Nowhere near as big or lavish as yours Mule Packer. Mine is merely
a 3rd bedroom that I call my office. Has a large walk in closet with a
lock on the door, where I keep guns, ammo, holsters, etc..

In the office I have a big book case with lots of books, my computers,
copy machine, TV set, and lots of decor on the walls. Seating for me
and up to 5 guests.

Not much, but it's all mine and I spend a lot of time in it.

Right now I have my home office/den....... with my old oak "Partner's desk" and Judges chair ... overstuffed recliner in the corner with a 1800's steamer trunk as a side table and a dry bar in the other corner..... a Winchester 1885 and Stevens Favorite hanging over the doors......the wall behind my computer is an 8'x4' montage of family pictures...... another wall has a half dozen pencil sketches of birds that visit the feeders outside the 5x6' window that over looks the wooded back yard. I look out that window when working at the desk! Song birds, hawks as well as deer and turkey are frequent visitors.................

We have the "cabin" Mom and Dad built and retired too.......on the Western slopes of the Eastern Continental Divide...... it's just 12 miles from............. property we bought (just over an acre) on a lake in the Laurel Highlands of Pa.... currently working on the out building; a 28x44 Barn..... under the Gambrel roof is a 20x44 space we are developing into an "Apartment" till we build the Retirement home..... down the road the 16x20 "not so great room" will become my "man cave/dog house"!......... the rest will be a full bath and 2 bedrooms and Bunk room for when the boys.....some day with families..... visit :D

Walking sticks.....I've made a few walking staffs for myself, the wife and boys........ plus I have my Great Grandfather's cane he carved for himself in 1916. "AM. 1916."

Thanks. That's a Crepe Myrtle tree in the front yard. Oaks are on the side and in the back.

It looses it's leaves in the winter like tree's up north.

I bet that looks great in bloom. It seems they get bigger the further north you go, I tried them in Broward and they just don't get that big down there. I haven't noticed any big ones here in St. Lucie either. Where are you on the coast?

Half of our loft is our office, and the other half is my area. It's more of a Crow's Nest than Man Cave. The window overlooks the river that runs through town, and I have a view of the ocean (a tiny portion of it) which is three blocks away. I took the photos of the elk looking out my window.

This is my warmer weather man cave. For some reason my wife hates the term man cave so I call it my "Mandinga" and even I don't know why. This pic is about 7 years old, taken when built by local Amish.
I purposely never had it wired. I have kerosene lamps, some are very bright, small solar cell, kero heater, portable toilet, bed in the loft, and of course lawn equipment, tools, gun cleaning table, etc...
I've sealed it in neutral since this pic and built a ramp on the front. It has darkened considerably since.
I spend much of my free time in warmer months out there, most of it by choice.

Been fortunate in that for most of the homes I've lived in since adulthood I've always been afforded some sort of 'man cave space', either a spare bedroom or smaller office space.
Currently in a basic 14'x15' BR with loading bench (combination fly-tying bench), safes, big armoire that's ammo storage, futon that folds out if needed, flat screen TV, closet with holsters and accessories.
Only two (2) long guns on the wall, a couple of old SxS's that fit the sorta vintage theme.
Used to have a LOT of mounted deer heads and fish - got rid of all when we moved to the coast - just seemed they'd be out of place. Kept one mounted albino 6 pt. buck shoulder mount and a mounted turkey fan, my first turkey.
Vintage metal sporting signs (repros) about.
I like it.

Gun cleaning takes place out back in a detached garage. Works out well.

I finished off my 21x 24 garage, with lots of 240 and 120v outlets, AC, heat and good lighting, and it's now my wood shop, and home fro my antique tool collection. I think the newest tool i have is about 1920, the oldest some molding planes going back to the early 1800's. The saw pictured was made before 1880, and cuts like a dream Feels good in the hand too. i have about 70 of them.

The garage also doubles as my reloading area, and general hobby and home repair space. Only pics I have are saw and the cabinetmaker's bench I built, and also use for reloading. The top is 4" thick and the bench weighs 600 lbs, so I could probably reload 75mm shells and the bench wouldn't move. I really like the OP's comfort look, and would love to have a room like that, but woodworking dust would trash everything in no time.
