maybe someone can help, wolf ammo problem in my XDM.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, back away from the tower with those pitchforks and torches, fellas, perhaps I need to provide FULL disclosure here, and so I shall;
1. That's not the ONLY reason I got rid of my XDm, and MUCH of it had to do with how it felt and performed for me, in direct side by side comparison with my Glock 19, which frankly told me that I shoot my Glock 19 better then several other guns INCLUDING a pair of Glock 34s that I did a little work on to see if they would "best" the G19, which they didn't for me!
2. The XDm's trigger, even with the deft handiwork of a Gunsmith friend (whom I can ASSURE you is both well credentialed and deserving of those "creds") was not to my liking IN COMPARISON to how my 19's trigger feels to me. (Disclaimer: Fulcrum Trigger)
3. Brothers, I did not just fall off the truck, when I refer to Wolf ammo (with the exception of their 22lr Match) I consider it the ABSOLUTE LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR!!!. While I will blow through a box or two if I can get it at a Turkish Bazaar price, it is most emphatically NOT my first choice in ammo. BUT, being the absolute bottom, I admit to using it also as a test to assure me (along with a good cross section of JHPs) that a given gun will shoot anything. Call it Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) if you will (at least I hope the "N" remains in that acronym :eek: )
4. All that said, THAT XDm would not accept Wolf 9mm 115 gr ball in 2 of 3 magazines without some sort of metal on metal lock up at about 8+ rounds or more, but WOULD roll just fine if I alternated Wolf, brass, Wolf, brass, etc... Strange, but every other 9mm in my stable (OK fine; Kahr PM9, early CZ75, too many Glocks to name (not in Lone Wolf 40/9 CONVERSION barrels though!), Beretta 92s and a Brigadier, S&W M&P 9c, EAA Witness Match (large frame) do or did just darn fine with the Low Common Denominator, heck, I even ran a couple boxes of it through my wife's 96% 1917 DWM Artillery Luger (NO, I did not, heck, I would stand at the stake, untied while you all lit the fire if that was true!) Now, see where I might have an issue with the XDm in that regard? No? OK, we'll just have to agree to disagree on that regard, and I absolutely wish you the very best with your XD or XDm, and I mean that sincerely!
5. As should be obvious by now, I have been on a quest for the perfect IDPA gun, when it has been in my holster all along, that G19 just plain works for me, as does my bride's M&P9c for her, and in many ways, I reckon I should have just "danced with the gal I brung" all along.
6. Have a nice Sunday, ya'll, I have the second love of my life, a rickety old Sheltie that seems to want to go for a walk in the rain...

I cant figure out the brass/steel/brass combo either or why that would make a difference, but it does! I did gauge some of the wolf and it is a bit longer than any brass ammo i have. oh well. Ill load up 8 rounds and shoot that stuff up.

Sorry your xdm wasnt the gun for you, I absolutely love mine. To each his/her own I reckon! Beautiful dog BTW

The steel cases might be just a fraction thicker. The range I shoot does not allow Wolf/TulAmmo or any other steel cased ammo. Citing the fact that they have had fires from same. I have only shot 100 rounds of it; 50 each in my FNP 40 and my Sig P229. I really don't like it. So I won't be buying anymore.

I figure the brass/steel/brass/steel combo reduces the friction on the inner walls of the magazine just enough that they will feed normally, whereas the all steel (since either combo is trying to press outward as well as upward) causes friction binding on the walls of the magazine (brass being more "friendly" to the steel magazine inner walls, so to speak.
My good buddy got my XDm, he likes it, shoots it well and doesn't use Wolf ammo (for that matter, neither do I routinely, I just make sure a gun will function with it if it HAS to!)

As for the XDm, ahh well, it was an experiment that proved to me conclusively that I like and shoot my Glock the best, so we do learn from all things, both good and "bad" results, no?

I would say thank you for the compliment on my dog's beauty, but I really had nothing to do with it (I'll tell her for you though!) She IS my sweet girl.
