Wife took the new truck to the dealer for its first oil change and check the nitofill in the tires.
1/2 hour later shes out the door, stops at boat owner warehouse and the gas station. While filling the truck she notices the cap missing from the tire so she checks and there all missing.
She goes back to the dealer and the guy tells her.....Maybe They Were Stolen ....Come on why couldnt he just admit they forgot to replace them.
Thats part of the this countries problem. Wont accept responsibility.

He did put on new ones.

I had a set of new tires filled with nitrogen, didn't take long for both caps on the passenger side to disappear. I guess someone thought those green caps were cool.

I'm sure most can remember the days when gas was virtually free in comparison, yet one was still greeted with a big smile and a "How can I help you?" attitude. So simple, and so oft repeated--yet never to be seen again. Well, play on, right?

The wife took her car in one time for a couple of new tires. They called her after a while and told her there was a problem and one of the lug nuts couldn't be removed and she was going to have to pay for an expensive fix since the wheels were deep well aluminum.

I went to the shop and and it was immediately apparent to me what had transpired; Goober-the-tire-changer had not used the proper sized socket on the impact wrench and playing "NASCAR pit crew" had obviously gone around the wheel at light speed taking off the nuts - they all exhibited signs of rounding, and the one that "wouldn't come off" had the metal shavings still inside the recess from the abuse. The owner of the shop came out with his 'estimate' of how difficult it was going to be to fix it and what it would cost. I told him it was his problem since his guy obviously did the damage and he immediately got defensive and swore "it came in that way". He further stated someone over-torqued the nuts improperly previously with an impact tool and that was what caused the malfunction. Trouble was, the last time that wheel had been off, I had done it myself with a four-way lug wrench. Didn't know I was such a brute.

I won't bore everyone with the details of what transpired next, but suffice to say these guys were crooks, incompetents, liars, and I finally told the man to his face that I doubted he could 'fix' a bowl of cold cereal.

Took the nut off myself by driving a smaller sized socket over the damaged nut and turning it off with a hand wrench. And needless to say, never took anything back to that tire dealer and I'm pleased to say I've managed to steer many potential customers from going there, as well.

You can understand an incompetent employee lying to cover his ineptitude, but when the business owner stands behind that - time to take your business someplace else.

My Dad and I used to have dealings with a local junkyard that bought old cars for steel scrap value. When we took in a clunker to be crushed for cash, he put it on a scale and deducted 120 pounds from the total weight because "them tires has 30 pounds of air in 'em!":p

"Under-tighten"

True story. First and last time I went to a chain store to rotate tires. After the rotation work is done I paid the guy and left. On the way home I hear this thump every time I start from a traffic light. So, I find a parking lot, stop and check it out. The lug nuts are loose on the right side and left rear. So, I tighten them and go back to the store. The manager listens and said - you have an "under-tighten issue" and we can fix that for $$$. I looked at him in disbelief. I'll do my own tire rotations from now on. That gene pool needs to be ended.

Lying employees and idiot managers in many businesses

Lying employees and idiot managers are working in too many businesses.

Recent mis-adventure at a not-so-fast burger joint (claims to be KING) with not-so-bright staff of JESTERS!:
Ordered the $1.00 shake and a couple of the $1.00 burgers.
Total came out to be to be something over $3.50 - I paid and then stood there looking at receipt -
I had been charged $1.39 for the shake.

Announced "This is WRONG! I ordered the $1.00 shake."

Clerk denied that they even offered a shake for $1.00, and the Mis-Manager agreeded that they NEVER offered any shake for $1.00.
I directed clerk and manager to look at the menu board where there was specific mention of a $1.00 shake.

Manager had to explain to clerk that "Yes, there is a $1.00 special on shakes." and how it WAS possible to ring one up.

Now for the even more idiotic part. Mis-Manager does some math and counts out some change.
"You were overcharged 39 cents, but you need to pay tax on the $1.00 shake."
Totally ignoring the fact that I had already been charged tax on the higher price.

When it became obvious that even fifth grade math was beyond her ability,
I demanded to cancel the order and have my money returned. Finally received a total refund and left with my sanity.

i gave up on mickey d's just for the above reason. i have always felt when they hire employees, they give them a test and the dumbest ones work at the counter.

I've often told the wife that in some of those places, to get a job there you have to take a test and FAIL it . . . .

Aahhhh, tyre shops and drive-thrus, what fun they can be.

Recently a guy from work went to get a replacement hi-performance summer tyre for his car and they all but refused to sell him one "because they wear out too quickly". It was my buddy's money and his choice, so why the problem. Had the same when getting tyres with grip for a sporty car I used to own. It came with the dreaded Goodyear GA tyres, GA meaning Grip Absent.

Then there are drive-thrus. The problems swing from the distracted white kid who cannot hear because of years of Death Metal with the volume set to kill, to an immigrant (legal or otherwise) with limited English skills. After several repetitions, extreme diction or "Pazhalsta, par Angliski", "Ich verstehen sie nicht" and "Parlez vous Anglais?" I usually park up and go inside.

Fill the tires with nitrogen ? Guess I am missing something here

!00% nitrogen makes a difference above 150 PSI on natural rubber tires. You will never find this combo on the street. On the tarmac, yes.

78% is more than adequate for street vehicles.

That is exactly why I quit going to Mickey D's drive thru. If they manage to actually take your order, when you open the bag 40% of the time they get it right, 50% of the time it's the wrong order, 5% of the time something has been left out and 5% of the time you get something extra. I haven't been through a McD's drive thru in more than five years

Funny thing, I quit going to McD's because of the trash inside the bag ...
