Mazda to revive Wankel Rotary Engine...

I had 2004 RX8, with the rotary engine, and will say from 0-35 mph it couldn't get out of the way, BUT from 35 mph and up, it's like a bullet, just keep whining out, and doing 125 mph with plenty more power to unleash.
I love these engines. No torque down low, but with a clutch pedal (or paddle shifters) they absolutely rip...if you keep the rpm's up. Lightweight, insanely free revving and fast.
Clutching it up, winding it out & heel-toe shifting is/was just too foreign to most daily drivers. Plus, no love from the EPA & CAFE standards. The hack was adding a wee bit of 2T oil to your gas tank. Did I mention the EPA?
Those engines are pure fun to drive hard! Oh yea.

I suspect the new Wankel will be neutered and more polite, but welcome its return. Electric cars are torquey by nature so it may be a nice arranged marriage.
