You can also:

- Write a comment and upload image via "manage attachments"
- Preview post
- Double-click the "attached thumbnail" and "copy image link"
- Go back to message, "insert image" and delete comment

This brings up the image full size. Sounds a bit onerous but quick once you get used to it.
