Image source here.Long ago my uncle told me of throwing dozens of chamber pots off the dock into the sea when an old hotel was being demolished, unaware of what they would have been worth decades later.
It was my job at age 4 until we moved into our new house with a toilet when I was 6, to take the chamber pot out and dump it in the two holer behind the house before breakfast during the winter.

All the upstairs bedrooms at my grandparents house in England had thunder mugs under the beds. I thought grandad had taken up the tuba.
"Oooooohhh.... we used to DREAM of 'avin a thunder mug under t'bed... WE had to walk 2 miles down t'road in our bare feet, to the communal bog which was 100' down an old mine shaft, 'angin' on to a rope for dear life...."
