I have owned and driven a 3 on the tree
I have also qualified repeatedly with those exact iron sights using both an M1 Grande and a M14 and the Marine Corps fires from 200, 300 and 500 yards. I was never very good at the 200yd off hand, but always aced the 500 yard line prone

Given the average age of the members here I would be surprised if they hadn't used a column shifter.

Learned to drive a manual transmission using an old flat nosed Ford window van with 3 on the tree and a wheezing 6 cylinder engine that belonged to my sister and BIL. There was just no way for me to get into trouble with that old van as it had just about enough power to get out of its own way, but I still had a ball driving around in it.
When I got to help move my brother from Chattanooga TN to Cleveland OH, I thought I was sitting in high cotton, because I got to drive his Chevy Vega with a 4 speed manual transmission while he drove the rental truck.

Learned on dad's 66 Ford pickup. I was 13. Because I could drive it, and my sister couldn't, always had something to drive.

Anyone else do the Hurst conversion, moving the shifter to the floor with the long chrome lever that curled back over the seat? Had a 390 Ford long bed Ranger XLT set up that way.
Don't forget floor mounted starter buttons....
Or 6 volt systems with a 12 volt battery sitting on the hump to jump start the truck....
Sliding windows on the VW bus...
Tilt open windshields...
Vacuum wipers that quit when stepping on the gas...
Keeping a 4 x 4 on a chain to keep the truck from rolling away...Start truck, reverse a bit and pull in the wheel chock...
Parking brake lever sticking out of the hump next to the gearshifter...
What's a radio???

Actually, you can. Go to "Edit post" and at the top is the option for deleting and reason.
