I'm thinking about getting some tritium sights for one of my S&W third gen pistols, and I noticed that Meprolight has some that are significantly less expensive than the other brands available...has anyone had any experience with Meprolight tritiums on an S&W semi?
I've never had tritium sights, so I'm not sure I'd like them, and don't want to spend $150 for something I may not like.

If I am not mistaken, these are the std. sights on Kimber pistols, so they should be reliable and have a proven track record. I have not used nor own any nite sights other than trijicon sites which S&W use on their pistols. zorro49

I have a set on my 1066 and they work great, but are a little bit higher profile then the stock novak sights. I personally think they ruin the "look" of the fixed sight pistols, but they do what they are supposed to just fine. In the picture below you can see the difference between my 1066 and 1076. In any case they are nice functional night sights, so for a duty or bed stand gun, they are a plus.

I have had a set of Meprolites on a glock 22 for 15 years and they still glow. They are much dimmer now than when new, but actually they are just right in my opinion. I am not a fan of very bright sights in low/no light conditions. I have carried that glock is some very harsh environments and the sights have held up. Excellent kit in my opinion, YMMV.

I have the adjustable version on my 5904. They work good. They are also the only night sights I have found for the adj. shights on S&W semi-autos. They looked good and functioned well on the CS45 I used to have.

I've had Meprolights on a few S&Ws and found them not to be as bright or as long lasting as the costlier Trijicons. Also the Trijicons have a sharper presentaion of your sight picture. My last 2 M&Ps came from the factory with Trijicons installed.

When the kimber/meps go dim, you throw them away. When the Trijicons start to dim, you return the sights/slide to Trijicon for new tubes. Currently $18 per tube.

One of my 3913s just came back with new tubes for the factory S&W/trijicon sights.
