Curious to hear purchase quantity/amount limits on ammo from various merchants/LGS around the country. My favorite LGS has limited .22LR ammo to one (1) 100rd box of CCI Mini-Mags, and similar limits on just about everything else. I don't know how often you can go back for it...I usually go once a week.

I work p/t at an LGS in northwestern NJ and the owner is having difficulty buying ammo- 250 rounds is the limit now, and there is very little .223 and NO 9mm- go figure.....

My local Wal-Mart has had a limit of 6 boxes per day for the past few weeks. I noticed yesterday that they had reduced it to 3 boxes per day.

Neither is really a problem, as for the past month and a half I've not seen 3 boxes of anything I cared to buy in stock at any one time.

I haven't run into any limits at the local gun shop, but then I generally only buy a box or two in there at a time. The same shop claimed in the paper that they were restricting certain types of ammo(not specified, but I'd guess .223) to sale only with the purchase of a firearm in that caliber.

I went to Cabelas yesterday "Lacey Washington" just to look and see what they had. There were so many people around the pistol ammunition that I could not see a thing. So I went to check primers and powder. Primer case was empty except for a few large pistol and powder was pretty thin. I went back to the ammunition and it had more people. I walked away. Glad I don't really need any.

Another sporting goods store nearby had several bricks of Federal large pistol magnum primers for $50.00 a thousand and a few 209's. More powder than Cabelas. No .22lr and pretty spotty on the rest.

This is going to last awhile.

The last 2 visits to Cabelas, the isles for handgun/centerfire rifle ammo, and also 22 are almost entirely bare. Also magazines(oe) are almost all gone. Looks like a going out of business sale.
The lgs still has some ammo. They are keeping some stock of ammo back, so they have some for the guns that they sell. They still are finding some stock from distributors, as they are almost always on the phone looking during the week.

My favorite LGS has CCI mini-mags: 100 rd boxes @ $8 per box; 3-box limit. I think that's not too bad, but there are some better deals around. -S2

That's half the price I pay at mine, and from checking other stores around here, it's that or nothing. Not gonna lie, I pretty much lurk the ammo threads whenever I'm near a computer to see if I can spot any online availability at this point.

A local Academy has moved desired ammo to the Customer Service Section and restricts purchases to 1 box of any calibre and a max of 3 boxes (only one of any calibre). No mention of allowed purchase frequency. They had Federal 223 for about 12.95 $/box, the same ammo that Wallmart has for $6.47/box

Kinda off topic but around here, northern IL, 40 s&w is about the only ammo on the shelves. Why?

That's the way it is here at our Academy. Our Dick's is empty. Our Wal-mart is empty. There's two gun shops that are getting ammo and it sells quick so if you go back 3 days later they may have more. They have 40 cal, not much in the way of 9mm or 380.

Our shelves are staying fairly well stocked at the local Sportsmans warehouse, even 223 and 9 mm

Prices are normal and the limits are
2lbs of powder
3boxes per sku
One pack of ANYTHING 100 rounds or more
One brick of primers per

Wal-mart in my small town 3 boxes Sportsman's 1 box of bulk (which is anything over a 150rds) or 3 boxes of anything 100rds or less.

Neither one has anything though!!!

I hope I am not to late to put one of these in the safe?
