63 just a couple of month's away...have my eye on a 1995 Corvette or a 2006 Cadillac DTS sedan. Decisions, decisions...not gun related, I know, but I figure as long as I can keep on this side of the dirt, might as well enjoy it!

Cadillacs are very nice automobiles but, with the exception of rare models or convertibles, I personally don't think of them as a "collector" automobile. Corvettes, on the other hand, seem to be more collectible, at least in my area.

It depends on one's personal preference. Just remember that I am the guy who told by best friend in high school that cassette tapes would never replace 8 track!

Missed it by that much!

Buy the one you like the best.

Me, I hate getting into or out of low slung cars. I'd rather have a nice 4x4 pick-up or another old straight eight Buick. My first car was a '52 Super with the DynaFlow transmission. I'd really like to find one of the Torpedo bodied fastbacks that Buick built in the late 1940s.

Sold my 64 Corvette last year after 20 years of ownership. Miss it, yes a little. I don't miss getting in and out, the fact that you can't leave it alone in a parking lot, it's not a new car and not entirely reliable, just for starters. A sport sedan is much more useable and practical and you don't look like you are out cruising for love.

I know we have lots of gear heads on this forum and I enjoy reading about y'all's fantastic vehicles. I've always been enamored with muscle cars and performance cars and cycles but outside of my 20-year/100k-plus miles affair with motorcycle touring, I've never thought it was a good decision to pursue it.

For sure, I make -NO- suggestion, I am only speaking for me. But it became absolutely crystal clear over the last 7-8 years that my passion is firearms, or handguns to be more specific.

Compared to vehicles, firearms require irrationally less hands-on maintenance, crazy operating expenses and they do not wear out and depreciate at any rate approaching the toys with wheels and an engine.

I love car stories, I live to attend a summer weekend car show and I too damage my neck and roll down the windows when I see something phenomenal out in traffic. Just not enough to throw money at it, especially if that money can be used to feed my guns, handloading and shooting lifestyle.

But I love reading about you guys and your cars and the fantastic old rides that you once had years back! :D

Ron, I envy you your dilemma. I had my Vette, and as much as I like the idea of a Vette, I know that I would never attempt to buy a new one. I had an '81 could that I bought new, and had it 13 months. For those 13 months it was in the shop 22 times, and the dealer couldn't keep it on the road. GM identified it as a computer issue. If I were ever to buy a Vette, it would have to be a pre-'74. I also have a bias towards Cadillacs ... I will never get in one and arranged that when I take my last ride, it won't be in a Cadillac ... one left me disabled.
