Hi:
I have this rifle I purchased years ago from a private individual, set it in a closet and forgot about it until today while looking for something else, I re-discovered it.
IIRC (?) the seller said it was a "Mauser 7mm"?
1. left side breech: X8610
2. bolt body: 8610
3. bolt handle: 8610
4. bolt housing/safety: 134
5. bottom of magazine floor plate: 1621

Manufacturer ?
Model ?
Caliber ?

Well it is a Mauser and if it's a 7 mm (7x57) it's S. American.
Possibilities include
Chilean
Mexican
Venezuela
Dominican Republic
Kingdom of Serbia
Brazil
Spain

Any stampings on the receiver ring?

It is a pre-K98 Mauser or licensed copy, perhaps an 1893 Spanish? Someone who actually knows will be along shortly...:)

With what appears to be the large gas escape vent hole in the left side of the rec'vr ring,,I'd guess it is a Mauser '93 variation made in Spain at their Arsenal(s) (Industrias de Guerras (?-something close to that).
The bolt should have a corresponding gas vent hole in it near the head that lines up when the bolt is locked. If a case head lets go, presumably the gas and brass will vent out that large hole insteadof traveling down the boltlug raceway and into the shooters face.

The other feature of those particular Spanish mfg M93's is the hinged floorplate with a catch inside the trigger guard which I think this one also has.

This rifle is I think the 'short rifle' version,, They made a lot of carbines too.

They (The Spanish Gov't Arsenals) made these in large #'s starting in the 1920's or 30's IIRC. They were quite common on the surplus market at one time.
7mm Mauser was the original caliber.
I think some were later converted to 7.62NATO in the 60's by them.

Nice looking Mauser. Make sure of the caliber, check the headspace and take it out and use it. It'll do anything you need a rifle to do most anywhere on the planet.
