Decided to go to a gun show today with some friends. Have been to about 6 gun shows in the last 18 months and never seen anything that would come close to being called a good deal.

While looking over the many over-priced guns and flea market junk for sale, I noticed a very clean blue 6-inch S&W Model 19-7 in a display case with a bunch of other guns. Although it did not come with a box, the gun could pass for factory new. I gave it a close inspection and, if it was more than factory test-fired, no more than a box or two at most.

I have been looking for this particular gun for a long time. Have not seen many. There is only one 19-7 on GB at this time--a 4-inch that is NIB for $480 ($520 buy-it-now) plus $40 shipping (plus transfer fee of $25-40). One on GA for $600:

Mine has the newer style cylinder release but it has the older style hammer-mounted firing pin, which also means it is pre-MIM too boot.

Paid $475 + no tax + no shipping + no transfer fee (buddy is an FFL). Sure, I would like to have paid less, but in this day and age $475 OTD for a new 19-7 is not bad.

Mr Fugate would ask $600-750 for this gun.

As long as you're happy w/it, I'm happy for you.

I'd rather not contemplate what price Phewgate might sell something while considering a purchase.

That could become contagious in a bad way...

Will take some pics this upcoming Saturday when I get back into town. The bluing on this gun is very deep. Wish I could get another 2-3 of these guns.

Hi all- I can relate to this thread. I too purchased a 19-7 (4") that would pass for factory new. It not only came in the original box, it even came in the original plastic bag. Got it at a gun show a few weeks ago. Mine is round butt with factory rubber grips. It's now my favorite pistol.

animalmother,

Congrats on the model 19!

I was looking at that one on GB myself. Can't wait to see the picuters of your gun.

Best,
Duke426

VM, it has the factory rubber grips. I'll have to check to see if it is a RB or SB. Any 19-7 owners care to post any pics of their guns?

I will be taking some photos of mine either Friday or Saturday.

mine has a CBJ prefix

That's a good price. I'm contemplating purchasing a Model 19-7 that is near mint for $440 - in fact I just made a new post about it. Don't know much about the 19's as I've always had Model 10's, but I like the idea of adjustable sights and having a choice between .357 and .38.

VM, my serial number starts with the letters CBH. Mine does not have the same grips as yours. It has the same grips as the one in the GB auction. Yours appears to have Hogue grips. I believe the ones on mine are Uncle Mike's.

What is the barrel length on the one you are looking at, Chief's Special?

VM, the grips on my gun are the same as shown on Hoot's PC 19 that is pictured in another thread. Any of other 19-7 owners have any pics of their guns? I will be taking some of mine shortly.

Nice 19-7 AM. I was looking forward to these since I had bought a 19-7 a few weeks ago.
Mine starts with a BSE prefix.I was told on the high road forum it dated about 1995. It has non original target stocks ,which are great, but I don't know if it came stock with grips like yours.

Anyway, congrats on your purchase!

Thanks. I plan to try and take some better pics. I just need some better lighting. Have you shot your 19-7 yet, Happenstance? I want to shoot mine but voices are telling me not to.

I'm having a hard time imagining why you don't want to shoot a gun you just bought. That's the first thing I do with a gun after I buy it.

But then, I'm no collector.

I use to shoot every gun I bought up and until about 5 years ago. Then, the safe queen bug bit me and, seeing what prices a lot of S&Ws are getting these days, I stopped shooting most of my S&Ws (or never shot) and started storing them away in the safe.

This new 19-7 is really calling me. I may well end up shooting just this one.

So far I've just put 12 rounds through it. First revolver I've had in a long time though.
Then cleaned it up real good and stored it.
Shoots real sweet, you may have to fire this one.
