Missed out on another one like a dummy

Local pawn shop I visited recently had a stone mint model 38 blue.
Not sure if a box or papers, but priced pretty fair at $495.

I contemplated it for a few days then decided to go back today and buy it. Already sold unfortunately

I have to learn to pull the trigger faster on these old classics, they just don’t seem to pop up very often in these parts

I like the 38's also. I don't see many of them around either. I picked up this nice nickel one last year but I paid more than $495 for it.

Yeah, I've found quite a few bargains, but it's the deals like that one that I've missed that bug me.

Don't feel too bad. Sometimes the "inner voice" that tells you to hold off helps save you from mistakes.
Every used gun is potentially a trap to buy someone else's problem. Maybe your subconscious noticed something, or recalled some caveat you couldn't quite place at the time.

For me, anytime I see a used alloy frame S&W, like the model 38, regardless of how nice it seems, I can't help but feel leery.

A run of the mill 38 goes for ~$500 around here as well. The one in my post above, ANIB satin nickel...well, more.

Don't worry; there will be another one. This one just wasn't meant for you. A few months ago I traded a Glock (which I had bought from a guy for $350) for this one. I put on a set of S&W "banana" grips on it and I love the way it shoots.

I do like those smooth J RB targets. They point so much better for me.

This satin nickel 38-2, with all the accoutrements cost me $700 as I recall. I'm a sucker for a flawless 38 like this one.

BTW, the box (authentic) is blue.

If you see it, & want it.....BUY IT! It all depends on which way you want your remorse to be. Better to buy it, then get tired of it and sell it. Then not to have it at all.

I appr3ciate the reassurances, but I think I just lost out this time.
Well there is a gun show today, so just maybe I will trip over something else just as worthy!
But I think I am at the age and level of financial security I need to just pull the trigger on things like this.
As I have aged, I went through many phases of “gun accumulation” and I cycled through plastic and tactical black guns, then back to classics and then back a few times.
I have concluded I will stick to the classics for the most part.
I do have some modern tactical type stuff for those purposes for which it is appropriate ( can’t show up to a glock gssf match with a revolver!)
But for most of my purposes the old classics are what brings a smile to my face.
Also as I age I have become more selective and my buying has decreased greatly.
In the last 2 years, I have only bought 2 guns ( one rifle one pistol) both for specific needs ( one for a type of rifle match I participate in, the other as a host for a supressor)
I do enjoy the hunt for classics about as much as actually buying them, so we will “hunt” later

I'm run into the same problem. Sometimes I need a day to think it over. And about 1/2 the time it's gone the next day.
