I'm going to guess late 1976 with a serial number in that range. Serial numbers were stamped into the grip panels for a number of years but I don't know when this practice was discontinued. Perhaps when the revolvers began coming from the factory with rubber grips.

You really got yourself a winner with that 2-inch Model 10. They group like target revolvers and are easy and pleasant to shoot. They are good to carry if some thought is put into clothing and holster. Is your's a square butt or a round butt. I like them really well both ways.

Les Here is D828xxx and it is from 1975-1976 time frame

Heres mine. I think I dated it to 1983 a while back. The pearl grips are original S&W that I bought at a flea market for $20 bucks!

My wife packed this one for a duty gun many years ago.

How do you post those nice big pictures? I used to be able to do it before this forum changed. Now all I can do is these stupid little thumbnails and my photobucket files are all too big apparently. It says "remote image too large". And it takes such a long time to upload the photos from my own computer. Its frusterating.

This is a pleasure to shoot. Quite accurate to boot.

I have a 10-5. Looked like this when I bought it about 12 years ago.

Now it looks like this. Still don't look right to me without emblems in the stocks.
