I have a Model 10-5 2" that the cylinder would not open on occasion. The ejector rod is tight. I found the thumb piece was contacting the recoil shield. With the cyliner open the bolt was just not flush with the frame.

I removed the thumb piece (which was on tight) and stoned the edge that was hitting, the bluing was worn and it was peened slightly. Reassembled and tested ok.

Did I do the correct thing is there anything else I should check? Thank You in advance for your help.

ML,

are you saying it works now?

I had one that did that, but it was the bottom of the thumb piece section that rides in the slot of the receiver.

I filed the section back to give a little more out of the cylinder release.

if its hitting the back of the shield, I would say yes.

Yes, working now, it was hitting the back of the recoil shield closest to the frame. The bluing was worn off of the thumbpiece. With the thumbpiece off the bolt is flush with the frame.

The thumbpiece nut is buggered a little bit like some one had cranked it down trying to aliviate the problem. I just got the wepon and don't know of it history. I am on my way to shoot it now. Will heat it up and see how it does. Thanks for the reply.

Just got back put 50 rounds through it. My first with that wepon. Shot real well, cylinder did not stick shut. I guess I have it figured out any input would be helpful. Thanks
