Model 10-5 Two-Inch Round Butt

My first S&W was a 2" model 10 square butt...over 30 years ago. I (shouldn't have) sold it a few years after I got it for no particular reason...

My new grail is an 'S' series round butt snubby, I know theres one out there for me.

Some of my M&P / Model 10 snubs.

Picked a nearly new 10 round butt 2" from a friend in April, wonderful gun. Now I want a square butt model 10 2" to replace the grunge 10 I currently carry in the truck.

These 2 inch snubs are so hard to find around here. I finally lucked up on a square butt C166XXX 1949-1950 in an easy 95% maybe 98% last year in a pawn shop and paid $250. It's the first one I've seen for sale in over 30 years. The round butt is much nicer, but I've never seen one of them for sale. I buy all over middle Georgia. . .about every pre 1988 Smith that I see. The older Smiths have gotten so rare around here that I am fortunate to find one every 3 months. I have a lot of collectors competing with me in this area, but I usually find out what they got that I missed. This year none of us have gotten much of anything. I found a model 31 nickel in 99% two months ago for $350. That is the one and only Smith that I have found this whole year (and it's almost June). If you have them (a lot of you do), hang on to them. They are only going up as they vanish from the shops. Even the nicer M 10's are gone right now. I have seen badly refinished ones bring $400 quickly this year. If I ever learn how to post pictures, I will post some. I'm kind of new at this right now.

...my 10, new in 6-'78 for $119 + tax.
I added the grips, and hammer & trigger.
It's a SB.
{I show it here more than I fire it}.

I have a 2" 10-5 in nickel, round butt.

It is nice, you hardly ever see them for sale anymore. A lot of people rave about the J frames. I will take a K frame revolver any day of the week.

Picked up a really nice 10-2;two inch round butt...about a year and a half ago...... as I was looking at it I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen one in any of the LGSs......the shop owner said he bet it had been 10 years or more since he'd had one in his shop.......

I figure the sock drawers of "America's Greatest Generation" must be full of model 10s,15s and 19s!!!!!!!

Course with everyone here owning 2 to a baker's dozen.........may explain it............ LOL
