Yesterday, at my LGS, a ran across a Model 10-5, 2" barrel, RB frame. It looks to be carried a lot, since the medallions are very much flattened. The trigger is nice in both DA and SA modes, and the barrel is very clean. The serial number is C9999xx, which would place it's shipping toward the end of 1967.

The barrel and S&W name plate have had the lettering and logo "whited in". Am I corrrect that this would have been done "after market"? It looks to be a detective's gun at some point in its life.

Dennis, I wandered into that same LGS today and checked it out also.

Nice 10-5. The grips show much more wear than the bluing does. I wondered if they were replacements?

Still...nice gun. I thought the whitened lettering looked spiffy.

Too bad I spent my allowance on an indentical config CDC-marked 64-2, last month. :(

I would be iinterested in what they were asking. I picked up a factory nickel at a gun show last year for $300. Had a little light scratch on it I didn't see until I got home with it, but it's no too bad.
