Deep, dark secret of mine: I once bought a mint 2" blue 10 simply because it was in the showcase.
I did that more than once!
Now you know. Another secret: I did not buy a NIB 6" pencil-barrel (we call them that in NY) because it did not look right. Now you know II. Please be gentle.
I think the 2" guns do look better than almost anything else but my pencil barelled, 4", vintage Wells Fargo, well used Model 10 (I think it's nickel plated, could be some kind of chrome, it's pretty worn but - - - ) is SOME KIND OF SHOOTER!!!! I'll be gentle. But you passed up a great gun!
Vegas casinos have been letting go of 4" HB 64s to go to some kind of square gun. They appear in shops with scratches and nicks on the outside and almost unfired inside. Perfectly timed. Oh my!
I will presume I need to be in Las Vegas to obtain one of these?
There are many variations re finish, bbl length and style, RB-SB and we need every one! I always encourage folks to pick up a 2" bbl when available: the gun-grabbers will always fall back on these as 'Sat. night specials.' Story here.
There was a time when snub nosed revolvers were the favorite target of the anti-gunners. I remember well the vituperations heaped on so-called Saturday Night Specials. Seems like today they don't even rate a yan from the antis....
Mas Ayoob has written that the 4" 10/64 is 'small enough to carry concealed and big enough to look menacing.' Agree. Another story.
You must have some great stories.
I think a 2" is as menacing looking as a 4", actually, but Mas claiming it's easy to conceal a 4" is his classic over statement - it is not - except under a coat or other long outer garment, mostly worn in the cold weather (anything conceals under a heavy coat!) where he's from. You just try to conceal a 4" revolver in your Texas summer clothes.....
Unfortunate that the true K-frame (no lock) really only exists on the used gun shelf and in our safes. Let's keep them going.
Sad but true. Which explains why I buy them so often. But as I noted in another thread, I am not too, too hung up on newfangled changes.
