Found this on a local board. It is a 3-inch model 13-2, but is not pinned or recessed. I thought they weren't dropped until the -3 change.

Nice gun. That yellow insert is my favorite. Have them on my blued guns.

Still available. Been listed for about 6 weeks. I'm thinking that $850 (asking) is too much to pay for this gun, am I right? What would be a good offer? Blue book price for 100% gun is $500 with no premium for the 3-inch. I know that is not hard & fast.

$850 does sound high, but these 3" M13s are popular. I've seen them listed for $750 in the Classifieds. I would think $500 - $600 would be a good first offer, but then I've made people mad with my first offers.

Blue Book is out of date two months before its
publication date. Or maybe a year before.

Not saying the $850 is a righteous price or an
inflated one but Blue Book, ugh.

Its best use is to check on older guns with
some historical context. Not for the prices
but just to get the technicals on them.

And, as an aside to Jack Flash, stop offering
$360 on NIB blued 6-inch Pythons when
we all know they are worth $750.

I have a 13-2 3" that is recessed but not pinned, I call it a transitional. That's reaching at $850, but you never know. When looking for one a few years back, GB guns were anywhere from $600 to $900 some higher. I decided if I found one locally for under $600 I'm buying. That next week, got a call about one on consignment for $560, couldn't get there fast enough. Make an offer because that's a very nice gun.

LOL! Thanks. I just use the blue book as a guide. I know that that it cannot cover every condition.

A 95%+ with original PC Magna grips 3" 13-2 I recently sold ser# 9D33xxxx that puts it in 1981 was recessed but not pinned.

It went for $750 quickly right after being offered.

I just bought last week a P&R, 4 inch, 13-1, ANIB for $725. Came with orig. box, tools and papers. Big bucks, but I was happy to pay it because I just don't see them in this condition.

UncleEd,

I don't know what your regular day job is, but suggest you go ahead and step up to headlining in
Las Vegas as a comedian. :D;)

I've been watching this gun for quite awhile too but it has not sold yet. I'm waiting for the price to come down a bit so it will fit my budget.

He's had it posted at that price since March. Don't think he's in a hurry to sell. Like was said earlier, I will offer him less, worst he can do is to say "No".

My 13-2 3" is also recessed but not pinned. I gave a roll of Canadian Maples for mine a while back (about $550 at the time).

$1,000-$1500 is about what I value ALL Pythons made during peak production. Due to them being rushed out the doors and not finished/built like they used to be. Albeit some examples from that time are pretty nice, but as far as overall comparison, the differences are noticeable.

During the peak production, '75-'81, half of all Python production was completed. So of about 650,000 Pythons produced from '55 to 2004, half of them were made in that 7yr span of peak production. Not only that, but these guns also have the cylinder assembly change that helped produce them faster, and I consider it a bad design change for the magnum frame. Colt saw it as "producing faster and cheaper". The old style assembly is better.

The internet conjecture has duped many regarding the "true" value of these guns. Time will correct this, and has already begun.
