My neighbor, who is the original owner, is selling me this beauty. It will also be my first revolver (what a way to start!!!). What year was it manufactured and what is the approximate value? Serial number 7K9419.

Just joined the forum and have already learned a lot, thank you in advance.

You may wish to move or re-post this thread to post 1961 revolver forum. This sub-forum is for semi auto pistols.

But, that said its a very nice Model 19! Should get some very nice responses.

According to SCSW 4th Ed. - 1974

That’s a very nice looking piece. Having the original box adds to the value.

I’m not really sure what the 4” versions are currently going for, but they’re certainly popular.

Good score!

Love the Combat Magnums,
Condition looks nice, the stocks are not original to your gun as 4" Model 19-3's shipped with target stocks not Magnas.

The Model 19 was designed to fire any .38 Special load and 158 grain .357 loads,
Be advised that lighter 110 grain .357 loads jump from the cylinder to the barrel faster and can crack the forcing cone.

That's a beautiful 19-3 you have there, great acquisition. A nice bonus with the original 2-piece box as well. I see it should have the "3 T's"...target hammer, trigger, and stocks. The only adverse thing I notice is that the gun has magna or service stocks on it currently. It should have target stocks with the football cutout to to be period correct as per the box end label. Perhaps your neighbor still has the target stocks? Overall, that is a very nice package and appears to be in nice shape. Around here, as it sits, that package would probably be worth anywhere from $750-$900 or more to the right person IMO. 19's like yours are very popular and values are still increasing from what I see.

Here is my 4" 19-2 from 1968.

Spoke to my neighbor last night, he was the second owner of the gun. He purchased it from his brother-in-law who was a LEO. The target stocks are long gone.

Welcome to the FORUM! That is a nice 1 for sure! If it were mine, it would have to wear a nice pair of target stocks. (of course it isn't) Enjoy it. Bob

My 19-3 was a Nickel 2.5” it was great with checkered banana target grips supposedly original but w/o a box or letter I wasn’t sure, I was told they were from the dealer /previous owner.
