Model 19-4 question

I recently picked up a Model 19-4, 6” blue, serial number in the 57K range, so 1980 maybe. The finish looks original to me but I’m wondering about a circled R stamped on the grip frame. If I remember correctly, at some point S&W stopped marking factory refinished guns, but I’m not sure when that was.

I believe that is an inspector or fitter mark. A refinish mark would have a date attached to it.

Finish and refinish markings would be on the left side of the grip frame. That circle-R is an assembler or inspection marking.
