Model 19 No Dash

While I certainly appreciate the "it's worth only this..." Walk a mile in my shoes here in SoCal. Unless you live here, buy and sell guns here you just have no understanding of what's available, what comes available and what you do if you find one available.

Yes I bought it and it will reside in my S&W Magnum collection. And already sent off to Roy J for the letter.

A fool and his money...not quite...now I have one and the other Californians don't. This is a chitty libro haven. All working against me and those like me. We cannot be trusted and certainly must be evil. Can't wait till the "ammo ban" starts Jan 1st.

If I did not grow up right where I live, my business of 36 years was not my business of 36 years, my family and friends weren't here, my Pops and MIL weren't here and our son didn't live and go to grad school here...you get my drift?

...I need a drink...

You guys pay more for everything in California, so why would it be different for Model 19? If you're happy because you own it now that's all that counts.

All I can say for sure is I wish my 19 no-dash was as nice as the one's pictured here. But then I only paid about 1/3 of the OP's price too....

Enuf of the i only paid...

Gee I live here and you live there. That's that. Sure we pay more however we also have way, way more opportunity to make more.

Glad we're only talking about the 19 I paid $1100 for that was actually here in SoCal and available. Perfect price and value-no kidding.

...Glad not talkin bout my fat crib or dope whip.

A little late to the thread, but I think the price was reasonable, given that it’s Cali. I would have paid that here in Florida, mainly because it is a birth year revolver for me and I’ve been wanting one of those in a 57 and 19 in that order. I’m still looking and hope to find one a little cheaper given my location. By the way, what does “drippy mint” mean?

It's just a condition phrase coined by my friend, a Chief of Police in Alabama. His gun collection would put many to shame, including my own. Big Larry

Don't get all bent man.

The bigger point I was making is yours is in WAY nicer shape than mine. Yours is a near pristine example and mine is a finish-worn shooter. Like I said, I wish mine were as nice as yours.

Even in Cali, the shooter I bought would probably only fetch half what your nice one is worth. Maybe $600 or $700.

All that matters is that you are happy with your purchase. Enjoy it.

I feel for you living in So.Cal. If you are happy with the gun and the price you did all right .Get the chance rent you a uhaul and move down here to Alabama we need all the good gun loving people we can get .

From what I see on TV on the real estate shows, my house would sell for at least triple its current market value were it located in SoCal. Guess guns are no different.

Not Bent...Happy

Thanks to all for the positive remarks.

My 19 is even better in person.

CA is just nuts with values on stuff. I have purchased many guns at "rest of the US prices" however some are what they are and when they are in front of you they are in front of you.

To answer: I do have a Fire Proof Ft. Knox safe.

Best

As a. Fellow Californian I feel your pain. In order to get my birth year gun a 1951. I found one out of state. So I had to get my 03FFL pay what the seller wanted which was a very fair price pay registration wait the 10 days making sure I did not pick it up one minute early (CA DOJ PULLS DEALERS LICENSES for early release). With the latest law changes my 03FFL IS WORTHLESS. Like you I feel am trapped my family has owned this property for four generations. It is Like living in a national park. Family is buried here. There is just no way to replace it somewhere else.

1962 Model 19 No Dash 357 Combat Magnum

Now that it's in my Safe...19 No Dash as it appears. Yes, CA $$$ but what else would I do with the $$$?

Thanks to Roy Jinks; "Shipped March 8, 1962 and delivered to Gil Hebard Guns. Inc. Knoxville,IL. As pictured with 3-T's."

Best, Dave

Very nice. The four-inch 19 is my favorite S&W. Perfect size, balance, and power. If I could only have one, that would be it.

HYPURR, as a fellow Californian I share your pain. I can tell you that in many, many years of looking at gun shows or in shops I have never seen a no-dash Model 19 for sale. I think you did just fine. In fact it took me years to find a nice 4" 19-3. Many Model 19's that I saw were either ridiculously priced, or exhibited slow carry up which I found odd on guns in high cosmetic conditions. I attributed that (my theory anyway) to the fact that in the the 1970's Model 19's were high demand, high production guns and a lot of them slipped past the infamous "Bangor Punta era" quality control.

I have a 19 no dash 4", 1961 that I paid $600 for about 6 months ago. It was a HP Officer's carry gun for years so it is worn some and is a little loose. HYPURR's gun is worth twice what mine is. I also bought a 1969 19-3 6" nickle plated last week that is almost new in the box for $601 that I feel is worth way more than I paid. Luck is sometimes all it takes! Enjoy your 19 HYPURR!

That is a very nice find. Congrats. I have a 4 screw that I bought a few years ago that I love.
A 1959 gun in good shape. Those are getting hard to find.
