Found a Model 19-5 am interested in purchasing. Blueing looks good and has original wood grips. Asking price is $450.
Is this a good price?
thanks,

Here's my track and chart. The chart is six prices and seven months behind the track data but you'll get the idea. There aren't enough data points to establish a decent trendline but the average is probably good enough. Better examples would command higher prices, especially with box, papers, tools, etc..
Smith & Wesson 19-5 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Bluebook of Gun Values (32nd Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $550 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 33 recorded prices for this model gun from $395 to $795 over a period of 4 Yrs 9 Mos ending January 25, 2012. The average price as of that date was $536. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.
I just paid $515 shipped from a forum member recently for a 2-1/2" blued with the original and another set of grips, no box. I felt that was more than fair. You can add that one if you wish.
Saw 2 Model 19's like the ones you describe in, at best, fair condition in the LGS yesterday. $450 each and he would not come off of that price. "I'll sell'em to somebody" was his reply. so, that is what you would pay around here.
I bought 2 model 19-4's last week. 1 I paid $699. It was 99% with box and papers. 4" barrel. The 2nd I paid $250 for 2.5' barrel in 90% condition no box. Big range in price. Both I feel great about..
