I have a model 1905, 4th change (very good condition) sn.2501xx, what year was it made? also what is the "dished out" area in the top strap at the rear end of the barrel for? any help would be appreciated very much, thanks
It probably shipped in 1915-1916. The dished area is called a "fouling cup". It was for the accumulation of lube, lead, etc that came from the barrel/cylinder gap.
